The Doormat Wife’s Ultimate Glow-Up novel Chapter 167

“If you want to blame someone, blame yourself. You knew Sofia and I couldn’t stand each other, but you still let her join DeepQuanta. And then you just stood by while she and Tara teamed up against me.”

“You can’t handle it?” Zach looked down at her, eyes red-rimmed, his glare so icy it felt like it could cut right through her.

“Reese, are you really that desperate to see me miserable? Does it make you happy to drive everyone away until there’s nothing left for me?”

“That’s not true!” Reese’s heart clenched and she raised her voice. “Zach, you’re the one who’s been coming after me all this time!

“You reported me without even asking for my side. You hurt me over and over just for Tara, and now you are blaming me?”

“Oh?” Zach’s eyes turned even colder and he let out a bitter, hollow laugh. “Let’s talk about how you dumped me when I was at rock bottom, then ran off to marry Sebastian.

“Or how Tara ended up pregnant with my kid and still had to suffer at the Bureau, all because of you.”

He grabbed her chin again, rougher this time, his eyes wild and furious. “Listen, Reese, you’re going to help Tara. If you don’t, I can’t be responsible for what I’ll do.”

Reese saw the obsession and anger burning in his eyes and felt her heart sink. She took a deep breath, forcing herself to ignore the pain in her jaw. Her voice was tired but steady. “Zach, I’m not going to help you.”

“If you actually care about Tara, then go find the evidence that proves she’s innocent. Stop trying to bully me into it.”

Zach just glared, speechless, then shoved her away in anger. “Is this what you want, Reese? Do you really hate to see me happy?

“Are you still mad I left for another country and didn’t take you with me?”

The force of his shove nearly knocked Reese over. She managed to steady herself, glared up at Zach, and let out a cold laugh.
