The Doormat Wife’s Ultimate Glow-Up novel Chapter 241

Robbie was seriously starting to wish he hadn’t tagged along with Sebastian to apologize to Reese.

That whole scene just now clearly stung Sebastian; it left Robbie feeling off, too. He couldn’t stop thinking about how his mom used to smile at him—gentle and warm, a smile meant just for him. Even around his dad, she always seemed a little distant.

But when was the last time she smiled at him like that?

Sebastian kept staring after Reese, like he was trying to burn a hole through the door she’d just walked out of. For the first time, he realized how genuinely kind her smile could be. Gone was the guardedness she wore around the Ratcliffs and the icy indifference she showed him. It’s just real, easy happiness.

The thought made Sebastian tug at his collar, restless. He slid behind the wheel and started the car.

Let her be happy or not—he didn’t care. She was already his wife, and no matter what she thought, he wasn’t ever letting her go. Divorce? Not happening.

The black Bentley slipped away as quietly as it had come.

Sebastian drove like a man possessed, so fast that Robbie had to hold on tight to his seatbelt in the back, his face turning ghostly pale.

By the time they got back to the old manor, both of them looked like they’d just walked through a thunderstorm. Jane stood up from the sofa as soon as she saw them.

“Where have you two been? Do you realize how late it is? Did you even eat dinner?”

Sebastian didn’t say a word. He shrugged off his jacket and handed it to a maid, shot Jane a look colder than ice, and headed straight upstairs.

The glare made Jane flinch, and she instinctively turned to Robbie.

“Where did your dad take you?”

“We went to see Mom,” Robbie mumbled.

Jane’s heart dropped. She glanced up the staircase, then back at Robbie, who looked completely defeated.
