Reese shook her head. “No. Those projects were secured by my uncle, using Ratcliff Global’s name. But Sebastian never once said the projects had to go to him,
“Would they have done it without my silent approval?” Sebastian let out a short, cold laugh. “Reese, do you really believe Dylon could have gotten those projects all these years if I hadn’t given the go-ahead?”
He looked right at her, his tone softening just a little, but there was bitterness underneath. “Why can’t you just believe that I love you?
“You misunderstood things with Sofia. You got upset, walked out, and no matter how many times I went to bring you home, you refused.
“You went so far as to end the pregnancy on your own. That sent my grandfather to the hospital from the shock.
“Did I ever blame you for any of that?”
“You say our relationship is broken, but that’s just what you think. Do you have any real evidence?”
He looked at Reese, eyes intense and dark like he was trying to show some kind of affection.
He was sure she had nothing else to prove her case.
As Reese listened, she felt her stomach twist with disgust.
He actually had the nerve to say he loved her. He was making all of this her fault.
And he even brought up that child, the one who never should have existed.
Facing the smug look on Sebastian’s face, all the anger, humiliation, and hurt Reese had buried inside just exploded. Her calm was gone.
“Sebastian, you forced me into this. So don’t blame me for not pretending anymore.
“You want proof you never loved me?
“Oh, I have it.”
She turned to George and gave him a nod. He got the message, pulled a folder out of his bag, and handed it to the judge.
“This,” George said, his voice clear, “is proof the defendant deceived my client, tricked her into IVF, and implanted an embryo made from his sperm and another woman’s egg, without my client’s knowledge or consent.
“This shows the defendant treated my client like a surrogate, not a wife.”
The courtroom went dead silent.
