The Doormat Wife’s Ultimate Glow-Up novel Chapter 306

Reese didn’t slow down for a second as she headed straight for the elevator. The doors slid open and she and Matthew stepped in side by side, never once glancing back at Sebastian.

Sebastian stood rooted to the spot, his chest rising and falling with angry breaths. He stared at his reflection in the metal, his face twisted with frustration. Reese didn’t care at all, and Matthew was openly on her side. The sting of it burned deep.

He wanted to just walk away, but something inside him kept nagging, pushing him to follow, to find out what Reese and Matthew were up to. After a few seconds of hesitation, he finally took off after them, striding quickly toward the elevator.

Reese didn’t care whether Sebastian followed or not. She drove to the hospital with Matthew, and as soon as they got out of the car, a sleek black Bentley pulled up beside them. Reese just raised her eyebrow, ignored Sebastian, and walked straight inside. Matthew glanced back at Sebastian with a faint, knowing smile, then hurried to catch up with Reese.

Sebastian was practically fuming, his jaw clenched tight. He managed to slip into the elevator at the last second before the doors closed.

When the elevator opened on the hospital floor, the sharp scent of disinfectant hit them, mixed with that faint smell of medicine. Both Matthew and Sebastian had a certain presence that made people turn and stare as they walked by. Reese ignored all the attention and headed straight for the information desk to ask if Bruce was working today.

The nurse at the desk looked a little startled. She already knew what happened to Bruce, and could only tell Reese that Bruce wasn’t seeing any patients for now.

Reese glanced at Matthew. He gave her a barely noticeable nod.

“I saw Bruce’s car in the parking lot,” Matthew said in a low voice. “He’s probably still in the security office. Let’s check there first.”

They walked down the hall to the security office. Through the small glass window in the door, they could see Bruce sitting calmly on a bench inside, hands resting on his knees.

Sebastian, trailing a step behind, let out a cold laugh. “Is he being investigated because he helped you trick patients?”

Bruce nodded, glancing between Reese and Sebastian. “This morning, I was in my office, working on your and Sebastian’s test results to come up with a detailed IVF plan. Out of nowhere, Jon showed up with a few police officers. He handed over some ‘illegal data transfer record’ and accused me of sending the hospital’s core medical data out of the country.

“I never did anything like that. That record has to be fake!”

Matthew gave Bruce’s shoulder a reassuring pat. “We believe you. Don’t worry.” He turned to Reese. “I’m heading to IT. I’ll see if I can get into their server and find proof that Jon faked those records.”

Reese nodded. “Okay. Be careful.” She still didn’t know what Matthew had shown the security guard, but at this point, only he could handle things.

Matthew nodded back. “Don’t worry.” He gave Sebastian a meaningful look, shook his head, and walked out.
