The Doormat Wife’s Ultimate Glow-Up novel Chapter 400

Reese picked up the stack of documents and flipped through them, her eyes moving fast. Inside, she found a copy of the old contract, records of money transfers, and even some anonymous statements from past employees. The evidence wasn’t complete yet, but it was enough to lead straight to Nathaniel and Bailey.

Piece by piece, the confusion in her mind started to fade. That partnership from twenty years ago had been nothing but a cover. Nathaniel and Bailey used the project to launder money. Her mother had discovered the truth, and that was why they killed her so brutally.

Grace was just a pawn, someone they put in the spotlight to hide what really happened, and to keep Bailey under control.

“The key file is hidden in a secret room at the old Meyer mansion,” Reese said, lifting her gaze to Hank, her voice steady and sure. “Douglas mentioned it in his private notes. It’s in a hidden compartment, somewhere in the study’s bookshelf.”

“One of my mom’s old colleagues told me about it,” she added. She wasn’t ready to say Vivian’s name, not yet. There was still a part of her that kept a careful distance from Hank.

Hank’s eyes widened, his whole face lighting up. “Are you serious?”

“I had no idea there was a secret room in that house,” he admitted, shaking his head a little. “No wonder I couldn’t find anything, no matter how hard I searched.”

“Douglas was Bailey’s personal assistant. He has to know how to open that compartment,” Hank added, his voice taking on a sense of urgency. “We need to get that file before Nathaniel or Bailey realize we’re onto them. If they do, they’ll destroy everything.”

Matthew looked at each of them, his gaze sharp, his tone collected. “So now the question is, how do we get into the mansion, find the secret room, and take the file without raising any alarms? And we have to make sure the donor stays safe.”

“Bailey definitely has people watching the house. We’ll need to be careful. If he catches on, he might do something desperate,” Matthew warned.

Hank thought it over. “No one lives there anymore, just the old housekeeper. He’s been taking care of the place.”

“Be careful,” Reese said quietly, her tone softening just a little. She still had her doubts about Hank, but right now, they were on the same side, fighting for the same thing.

Hank looked at her, his eyes shining with emotion. “Thank you for trusting me, Reese. I’ll get that file. I’ll make sure our mother gets the justice she deserves.”

Matthew stood up, getting ready to move. “Let’s not waste any more time.

“Mr. Meyer, head to the mansion now. I’ll have my people keeping an eye on things outside. If anything happens, let us know right away.

“Reese and I will stay at the hospital, keep looking for updates about the donor, and coordinate with the police. We’ll get the paperwork ready to arrest Nathaniel and Bailey. The second we have that file, we bring them down.”
