As they stepped out of the boutique, Mirabella cast a sideways glance at the paper bag in James's hand. "Didn't you say the outfit didn't fit?"
James, holding her hand with the other, replied with a mock seriousness, "How could I let anyone else wear something my girlfriend has tried on?"
Mirabella rolled her eyes. "You're such a child!"
James raised an eyebrow, leaned in, and whispered teasingly in her ear, "Besides, we kind of wrinkled the clothes while you were trying them on. Not exactly fair to sell them like that again."
Mirabella's cheeks turned a bright shade of red. "..."
Smooth move, James!
Not wanting to listen to him any longer, Mirabella gave his foot a playful stomp, pulled her hand away, and headed towards the escalator.
James just chuckled and followed her.

At Asa's private estate.
"Sir, Count Murray just called. He mentioned that the girl will be attending the Earl's ball tomorrow."
Upon hearing this, Asa paused his typing for a moment and looked up.
The assistant continued, "The Earl also wanted to let you know that Mr. Davis of the Davis family has been seriously injured and is in critical condition. So, even if we make a move on the girl, the Davis family might not be in a position to do much about it now."
"Jim is severely injured? What a coincidence," Asa remarked, surprised.
The assistant nodded. "I doubt the Earl would joke about something like this. It seems genuine."
Asa leaned back in his chair. "Who else has Murray invited?"
The assistant was prepared. "All the major families, along with several royal elders and princes, have been invited. It's quite a grand affair."
Asa nodded thoughtfully. "The more people, the more confusion. Murray's quite the crafty one."
His sister was absolutely stunning.
But as he eyed the dress, Nick couldn’t help but feel a bit irked. "That guy's taste is questionable."
"What did you say, Nick?" Mirabella asked, catching only the last bit as she drew closer.
Nick shook his head and offered his arm. "I said my sister looks amazing."
"I thought so too," Mirabella grinned, confidently linking her arm with his.
Nick chuckled. "Let's hit the road."
Before long, they were in the car.
Mirabella glanced at the convoy of Davis family cars trailing them and blinked in surprise. "Is all this really necessary?"
Nick, maintaining his calm demeanor, explained, "This is the Davis family way of making an entrance."
