The Double or more Life of the Fake Heiress (Mirabella) novel Chapter 1766

The butler and the maids returned after scouring the place.

"Ma'am, no sign of her upstairs."

"Nothing in the garden either."

"Basement's empty too."

The butler glanced at the Countess, lowering his voice, "I've checked every single room on the second floor, and there’s no trace of Ms. Mirabella."

"You're absolutely sure you checked every room?!" the Countess stressed each word, her tone sharp.

Recognizing her hint, the butler nodded, "No one there."

The Countess felt a familiar buzz of anxiety in her mind. There was only one explanation for Mirabella's disappearance—her husband must have already sent her away. She wasn't sure who was after the girl, but her husband had hinted things could get ugly.

Admitting Mirabella might have been whisked out of the Count's estate was too risky. Acknowledging it meant inviting real trouble.

"Keep searching! Don't overlook anything!" she ordered again.

Five minutes ticked by, and she had no clue what her husband was up to.

"Should we check over by Prince Lockie's quarters too?" the butler asked, hesitantly.

Prince Lockie had always had a good relationship with the Count’s estate. If he stepped in, maybe the Davis family and the authorities would ease up a bit.

The Countess caught on to the butler's suggestion like a lifeline. "Yes, go ahead. By now, His Highness will surely understand."

If anyone could stand up to the Count’s estate, it would be someone like Nick.

Once Nick saw his sister was unharmed, the anger he'd felt evaporated. "As long as you're okay."

Just then, the Countess approached quickly. Seeing Mirabella, her shock was gone, replaced by a stern demand, "Ms. Mirabella, we’ve been searching everywhere for you. Where on earth did you disappear to? Do you realize the chaos your absence caused?"

The Countess wasn’t concerned with how Mirabella got there; she just knew it was vital to cast the Count’s estate as the wronged party.

"Messing up my husband's birthday party is one thing, but his life is on the line... To find you, they dragged the doctor away and accused us of hiding you. If you don’t give us a good explanation today, this estate won’t let it slide!"

The Countess's eyes were red, her voice almost breaking as she spoke.
