The Double or more Life of the Fake Heiress (Mirabella) novel Chapter 1781

James gently squeezed Mirabella's hand, giving a slight nod. "What do you need?"

"I need you to discreetly keep an eye on someone for me. I'm worried she might get into trouble," Mirabella said earnestly, her voice steady.

She didn't want Chester waking up to find his mother gone. Although Nellie hadn't said much today, Mirabella had a pretty good idea of what she was planning.

"Of course," James agreed, feeling a warm sense of satisfaction. It was rare for his girlfriend to ask for help, and he was more than willing to oblige.

Mirabella and James hopped into the car, her mind already racing with thoughts of writing a small program once they got back. Nellie was cautious, but her computer skills weren't on Mirabella's level. Even if Mirabella installed a hidden tracking app on Nellie's phone, she wouldn't notice.

Before long, they drove into a suburban neighborhood filled with upscale homes, not far from the Davis Estate—just a ten-minute drive away.

Mirabella had never been here before. As she stepped out of the car, she raised an eyebrow at James. "Here?"

"Yeah, just bought it," James replied casually, entering the passcode to open the door.

Mirabella was momentarily speechless. Wealthy folks really did talk differently, as if buying a house was as casual as picking up groceries.

She followed James inside, and the luxury of the interior definitely suited someone of his financial caliber.

Mirabella swapped her shoes for the pair James handed her. Meanwhile, Cassie, who was tinkering with gun parts alongside Wyatt in the living room, paused and got up to greet them.

"Hey, bro-in-law, you're back..." Cassie's voice was bright, with a rare enthusiasm. But when he saw Mirabella, surprise flickered across his face. "Oh, sis, you're here too? Didn't you say you had something to do?"

Feeling a bit overshadowed, Mirabella turned to James with a wry smile. "You're quite the popular brother-in-law."

Mirabella glanced at him sideways. "So, you don't want to go back?"

Cassie immediately shook his head. "No way, I still want to come back with the Valedictorian title for finals!"

Compared to being dragged back to the family estate by Nellie, he'd rather tackle those piles of review materials.

Watching Cassie, Mirabella's eyes softened with amusement. She ruffled his hair affectionately, an unusual gesture of generosity. "I'll have a reward for you when you succeed."

Cassie quickly shook his head. "No need, sis. It's just a finals Valedictorian title, no need to go overboard!"

From his past experiences of being duped, he knew any reward promised by Mirabella was likely just the start of another predicament. He wasn't about to fall for it again!
