With his flamboyant style, there was no way he'd be caught dead driving a beat-up car. Image was everything, after all.
Mirabella clicked her tongue and checked her watch. "You're an hour late. Did you swipe this robot or something?"
Dylan's dad, always sharp as a tack, had hit the nail on the head.
Dylan cleared his throat, trying to keep his cool. "No way! It's just a prototype. I could get ten more if I wanted."
Mirabella gave him a knowing smile.
Feeling a bit guilty, Dylan looked away, walked around the car, and untied the ropes securing a box to the frame. In no time, he had unloaded a box that came up to about half his height.
"Inside, there's a new model robot, some welding tools, and parts. Let me know if you need anything else, and I'll sort it out," Dylan said, letting out a breath after the heavy lifting.
Mirabella didn't bother opening the box. She just nodded. "Alright."
"And that system that's still a work in progress, I'll send it to your computer later..." Dylan rubbed his hands together, eyeing the villa behind Mirabella. "If it's cool, I could stick around and help out your dad."
"Oh, it's not cool," Mirabella shot back without missing a beat.
"Then maybe I could rent the house next door, so I'm always nearby?" Dylan offered as a backup plan.
He was dying to see the master in action! Without a word, Mirabella, who could practically smell his eagerness, picked up the box and walked into the villa.
With a swift kick, she shut the door with a loud bang.
Dylan: "???"
Seriously, is she even human??
**Two days zipped by.
During these past days, Mirabella split her time between visiting Chester at the hospital and tinkering with the robot in James's villa.
Wyatt remembered the little drama Murray had cooked up at the recent gala and chuckled. "A schemer indeed, almost tripped over his own feet."
James tapped his fingers thoughtfully, then asked, "How's Curtis doing?"
"I caught up with him this morning. Nothing unusual from Santos, probably because of that shot you gave him last time," Wyatt replied quickly.
James's eyes narrowed slightly, and he shook his head. "Make sure Curtis keeps a close watch."
Even though he wasn't sure what Santos wanted with Mirabella, he knew they wouldn't back off easily.
"Got it," Wyatt nodded.
"Oh, and James, Trevor and the archaeology team have arrived in Merrywoods, near Baycliffe," Wyatt almost forgot to mention.
James frowned, "Still chasing that rumored treasure?"
