The Ex-Husband's Apology (by Sebastian Grey) novel Chapter 8

Chapter 8

Jennifer watched as Brayan took out a cigarette, lit it, and sat on the narrow sofa in the living room, smoking and talking like he was right about everything.

Catalina and I went to the same high school. She studied abroad in college and is now a topnotch returnee, a rising star in jewelry design. If her hand hadn’t been injured, she would have been a worldclass pianist by now. A girl this excellent wouldn’t put up with my mom, and it would be a waste of her talent for her to stay at home and take care of the family. So she’s not suitable to be my wife.

Jennifer’s face turned paler and paler.

But you’re different. You never had much talent or ambition. You didn’t even finish college, so you have no degree, diploma, or skills. Also, your family is nothing special. After being a housewife for so many years, you’re out of touch with society. Without me, you’re nobody. You can’t even afford basic necessities. What makes you think you have the right to divorce me?

The small house was dead silent.

Jennifer opened her mouth and ended up breathing in some of the smoke from Brayan’s cigarette. She started coughing.

Figure it out, pack your stuff, and come home with me. I’ll forgive you this one time.

After he finished his smoke, Brayan couldn’t find an ashtray but didn’t toss it around.

As he lifted his hand, Jennifer walked over and took the cigarette butt,

then threw it in the trash.

He smiled. His charming grin was quite attractive.

Jennifer said she wanted a divorce, but her actions showed she didn’t really mean it.

Brayan changed his posture and crossed his legs.

Jennifer had no money or real skills; she was the type who had to lean

on a man.

If she wasn’t an idiot, she would know what was best for her.

This time, she was bothered by Catalina’s presence and played games with Brayan.

Time to cut the act. I don’t have all day to play along. If you run the household like before, I’ll keep supporting you,Brayan said in a cold and harsh tone.

But then he saw Jennifer bend down, hunching her back as she picked up the scattered divorce papers one by one.

If you don’t sign it, I’ll send it to your company tomorrow, or to your mom.

Brayan jumped to his feet immediately.

Jennifer, don’t push your luck!

The man Jennifer had loved for ten years, once so close, now felt so strange and distant that it scared her.

She opened the door.

Go back. Don’t ever come again.

Brayan never imagined that he’d lower himself to come find Jennifer, only to get a flat rejection. After a moment of anger, he shrugged and let out a smile.
