Jennifer was facing detention, and the police asked her to notify her family.
Jennifer held her phone, her tense knuckles white as a sheet.
Her family…
Her mother suffered from dementia in the nursing home.
The rest….
Only Brayan.
Jennifer really didn’t want to tell Brayan that she was going to be detained.
This incident had a huge impact on all aspects of her career and reputation.
Even if she wanted to divorce Brayan, she couldn’t gamble with her life.
“Mr. Daugherty, about last night, I think we can settle it privately. How much medical expenses do you want? I’ll pay.”
Jennifer approached Grady.

If money could solve it, she wouldn’t be stingy.
Grady looked Jennifer up and down, grinned, and said, “How about treating me to a meal? After that, we’ll call it even.”
Is it that simple?
Jennifer was feeling a bit uneasy.
On the day they reached a settlement, Jennifer and Grady went to the restaurant Grady had picked.
It was a very high–end hotel.
No matter how fancy, Jennifer believed she could afford it, so she had no objections to whatever Grady ordered.
This meal wasn’t just the two of them, they also had the chief of the Zuprein Police Department with them.
Jennifer guessed that Grady was afraid she would sneak away.
Jennifer could hold her liquor, but she wasn’t immune to getting drunk after a thousand drinks.
During the dinner, Grady kept pouring her a lot of alcohol. She knew. he had ulterior motives, so she wanted to leave quickly before she completely lost consciousness.
“Hey cutie, you haven’t finished your meal yet, you can’t leave!”
Grady blocked Jennifer’s way and tried to put his arm around her waist.
Jennifer groggily picked up the bottle on the table and smashed it on Grady’s head.
The hotel was suddenly in chaos.

He was throwing up while trying to call Lydia on his phone.

However, Jennifer was so dizzy and confused that she didn’t even realize she accidentally called Brayan.
Brayan was having dinner with Catalina right now.
The phone was set to vibrate, buzzing non–stop.
“Who is it? Work–related?” Catalina asked curiously.
Brayan picked up his phone and glanced at it, a hint of emotion. flickering in his eyes.
“No big deal, just a prank call.”
Brayan hung up the phone.
Outside the hotel, Jennifer saw that Lydia didn’t answer the phone, so she decided to hail a cab by herself.
But she also felt that it wasn’t safe for her to take a taxi alone in her
current state.
She found a bench and sat down, leaning to one side, and before she knew it, she fell asleep.
I had a really chaotic dream last night.
In the dream, Jennifer got into a fight and was chased by someone.
She ran all the way, but couldn’t shake off the other person.

This is not Lydia’s house.
It’s not her own home either.
But the ceiling that met her eyes was not unfamiliar to her.
Because that crystal chandelier was chosen by her mother–in–law.
