Lynne's teeth were chattering from the pain, her vision swimming with black spots.
Joshua made no move to help her up. Instead, he circled her, taking photos with his phone as if she were an exhibit at the zoo.
"Just hold on a little longer, Ms. Cameron," he said calmly. "Let me properly document the lesson you're teaching me, and then you can get up. We wouldn't want this impressive fall to go to waste."
His words almost made Lynne faint from sheer rage. Was this man a completely clueless idiot? She tried to call for help, but the intense pain left her speechless. She managed to weakly lift an arm.
Joshua's face lit up with feigned understanding. "Oh, I see! You're showing me that this angle of the arm is the correct, standard posture. Is that it?"
From then on, every pained expression and desperate gesture Lynne made was interpreted by Joshua as part of his supposed "lesson."
Finally, Stella, having heard that Lynne had come by, found her way to the office and put an end to the ordeal. Half an hour later, an ambulance carried Lynne away. She spent a full week in the hospital recovering from a sprained ankle and facial lacerations.
When Sellers Burton heard the news, he knew the plan had failed. "And I almost believed that idiot Lynne," he sneered. "I thought she actually had some skill. Instead of seducing the man, she got herself sent to the hospital by him."
Beside him, Sherman Burton mused, "Joshua doesn't like socialites like Aurora and Simone, nor does he like aggressive flirts like Lynne. Don't tell me… he's into divorced women like Stella?"
