The Ex-Wife's Burning Elegance novel Chapter 749

Suddenly, Rachel remembered what Joshua had asked of her—he wanted her to find Aurora.

Did that mean Joshua had also noticed Aurora’s earrings?

Was he testing her?

Or did he already know something?

But even if Joshua had seen them, it didn’t necessarily mean those earrings belonged to Aurora. After all, there were so many similar things in the world.

Still, Rachel couldn’t shake her unease.

Aurora… she played the violin too.

What if Aurora happened to own two identical pairs of earrings?

Rachel spoke up, “Your earring—I once saw someone wearing one just like it. I loved it so much, I’d wanted to buy one of my own ever since. So when I saw Ms. Williams wearing it the other day, I wanted to buy it from her.”

Aurora saw right through her story. She knew Rachel wasn’t telling the truth, but she also knew Rachel never would.

Meeting Rachel’s gaze, Aurora asked, “Earlier, Joshua—Stella’s companion—spotted my earring and reacted just like you did that day. Ms. Pearce, do you know him?”

Rachel had already braced herself for this. Without a hint of panic, she smiled politely. “I’ve met Joshua a few times. You could say we know each other. But I don’t know much about the earrings.”

Aurora studied her a moment longer, but Rachel’s expression revealed nothing. Aurora let the tension ease with a casual smile.

“So, Ms. Pearce, what sort of collaboration did you have in mind?”

Rachel couldn’t help but feel a touch of caution toward Aurora after the whole earring incident.

With that, Rachel left.

Once Rachel was out of sight, Simone finally spoke. “Aurora, are you really going to work with her? She doesn’t exactly strike me as trustworthy.”

Aurora withdrew her gaze. “Of course not. I was just sounding her out.”

Simone snorted. “I knew it. There’s no way you’d team up with someone like her. As for Stella and this inheritance mess… If you say the word, my brother and Sellers would do anything for you. Why would you need to rely on someone like Rachel?”

Aurora smiled faintly. “She’s not as clueless as she seems—she’s actually pretty cautious. Even at the end, she didn’t reveal anything useful.”

Simone frowned. “Why are Joshua and Rachel both so interested in your earrings, anyway?”

Aurora reached up and touched her earring, her expression relaxed, betraying nothing.
