“We said we’re here to keep Grandma company, why think so badly of us?”

“Yes, yes, just to see your grandma, Lucille, stop making trouble.”

Monica came out of the kitchen, holding a piece of meat.

Jaxon and Tristen blocked the door, not letting Lucille and Grandma out.

They dragged on until noon, Monica made six dishes, set them on the table, Jaxon brought a bottle of wine, to toast Grandma.

“I’m sick, can’t drink.”

Grandma said flatly.

“Then we’ll drink!”

Jaxon raised his glass, “Mom, you’ve worked hard, thank you for raising Lucille and Tristen, for your dedication to our family.”

Lucille sat by Grandma the whole time, not even touching the food, like her defense system was fully engaged.

After a few drinks, Jaxon started talking more, pouring out his true feelings.

Turns out, Jaxon came to ask for the country house.

“Mom, I’m pitiful now, barely getting by on son–in–law’s help, Tristen’s getting married, I have no house for him, your grandson’s wife’s belly is growing, no house, can’t get married.”

“Mom, take pity on me, give me this country house, I’ll clear it out for Tristen to marry, your daughter–in–law and I will move back to the country.”

Jaxon was good at playing the victim.

Grandma and Lucille both thought there was more to it, not just that simple.

Grandma spoke first, “It’s not impossible. If Tristen really wants to get married, you two can let the newlyweds have your place. You could always move back here.”

“But…” Jaxon hesitated, “Mom, you’d have to transfer the deed to me first.”

That nearly made Grandma stab him with a fork. “The country house belongs to your sister! When your father passed, you took all the money–even my share! You thought the country house was worthless and gave it to her!”

“Mom, that’s where you’re wrong,” Jaxon retorted. “You tricked me back then, saying that was all of Dad’s savings.

Lucille frantically rubbed Grandma’s back. “Grandma, don’t fall for his trap! He’s trying to provoke you! The angrier you get, the happier he is! Please, stay calm!”

Jaxon leaned in closer. “Just give me the house, Mom, and I’ll forget about the money. Otherwise, hand over ten mil- lion!”

“Just kill me then!” Grandma shrieked, slapping Jaxon across the face. “See if this old bag of bones can squeeze oil worth even a thousand bucks!”

“Tch, no need for drama,” Jaxon sneered like a street thug. “If you won’t give me the house, I’ll just dig up your sav- ings myself!” He jerked his chin, and both Xiuyu and Tristen charged toward Grandma’s room.

“The middle drawer! Break the lock!” Jaxon yelled while rushing.

Lucille settled Grandma into a chair and lunged to block the doorway. “Try getting past me today!”

Jaxon laughed. “Girl, that limp won’t stop three of us! A cripple like you should focus on pleasing your CEO husband instead of playing games! Tristen, go!”

Lucille gripped the doorframe until her knuckles turned white. They shoved violently, but she held firm until her nails snapped off. Despair washed over her–she couldn’t physically overpower three ravenous wolves.

“Take another step and I’ll end it right now!” Grandma stood in the living room, a knife pressed to her throat.

Lucille’s heart shattered. “Grandma, no! Please don’t! If you’re gone, they’ll get exactly what they want!”
