Movements etched in her soul. Muscle memory.
Besides, he’d prepared meticulously–safety nets rigged on the tenth floor. Even if she’d fallen, the nets would’ve caught her.
“Let’s go. I’ll take you to your room first, then fetch your things,” Aydan said.
“But… aren’t you rushing back to Capital City?”
If his flight was at noon, Lucille thought, he’d already missed it.
“No worries. Already too late anyway.” He grinned, teeth gleaming–especially in the sunlight. “I’ll head back at dusk.”
Lucille took a shower and changed into the clothes Aydan had bought her. When she was ready, Aydan rang the door- bell again outside.
“It’s me, I bought some food.”
Lucille opened the door and saw Aydan standing outside holding two large bags, with restaurant meals and fruits.
“Come on, you must be starving, have some.”
Aydan came in smiling, put the things on the table, “I don’t know what dishes you like, just bought some randomly.”
Lucille looked, this wasn’t random at all; that Steamed Herb Fish Fillet was her favorite.
She liked steamed fish, but Cedrick preferred spicy.
After the turmoil this morning, both she and Aydan were hungry. The two of them ate a fish, a soup, a stir–fry, and a vegetable dish clean.
Aydan laughed, “Lucille, we don’t look like dancers.”
Lucille shook her head smiling, “I’ve given up dancing for many years.”
But, she rarely indulged in food; perhaps it was a habit hard to change after many years.
“Lucille, passion is in the heart, not in the form.”
Aydan pressed his chest, looking at her eagerly.
Lucille nodded.
“Lucille, you should rest. I’m in the next room, call me if you need anything.”

Aydan quickly cleaned up, leaving her time and space to think, “Oh, by the way, I actually called the police. They should have handled the aftermath.”
What happened today was surely a blow to her. That bastard Cedrick never acted human, and today’s choice hurt even more deeply. But once things are handled, he’ll definitely come back for senior. How she should respond needs time to think through.
Lucille was indeed very tired. After Aydan left, she locked the door and lay down.
Her whole body relaxed, as if her bones ached.
She didn’t replay today’s events as Aydan thought she would. The hotel pillow was soft; she felt drowsy as soon as she lay down. She thought she should sleep first, and realized one thing: today she could sleep until she woke natural- ly, with no one disturbing her, because her phone wasn’t with her.
But she didn’t sleep long, because the police came.
The police first found Aydan to get information. As one of the victims, Lucille also had questions to answer.
Lucille shook her head inwardly; she’d been dealing with the police a lot lately.
She told the police the whole story in detail. Aydan was anxious beside her; after she finished, he urgently said to the police, “Officer, Lucille is a victim, quite shaken today. Can she rest at the hotel and not go to the local police sta- tion?”
The police naturally said yes; they were just here to get information. After recording everything Lucille said, they left. But Lucille couldn’t find peace yet, because Cedrick came right after.
At that time, Aydan was already preparing to leave for the airport. He came to Lucille’s room to say goodbye and planned to leave her some cash; otherwise, with nothing on her, she couldn’t go anywhere.
When Cedrick arrived, it was Aydan who opened the door.
Cedrick’s first sight upon entering was Lucille sitting by the bed in pajamas, with a stack of cash on the nightstand.
“How come you’re here?”
