Chapter 267
The hospital.
Lucille had already finished her meal under Robert’s supervision.
Cedrick was peeling fruit at the side. Seeing that she had finished eating, he offered the peeled fruit to her, “Have some fruit?”
Lucille turned her face away.
“Lucille…”
Cedrick was about to say something more when his phone started vibrating.
“It’s Harlan. I’ll take this call.”
His expression relaxed after he saw the caller ID.
He walked to the window to answer the phone, “Hello, Harlan, what’s up?”
“Cedrick, Maricela is missing!”
Harlan said urgently from the other end.
“I’m at the hospital right now. Did you guys call her?”
He lowered his voice.
“We did!
It won’t go through!
I have a bad feeling about this!
We have to go look for her!”
Harlan was very anxious.
“Could she be at the beauty salon getting a facial?
Or getting a spa treatment?”
“No way!
Cedrick, believe me!
My gut feeling is never wrong. Something must have happened to Maricela!”
I had plans with her today!
She’s been a no–show all afternoon, and that’s never happened before!
Could someone be retaliating?”

Cedrick glanced at his grandmother lying in the hospital bed. “Alright, I’m on my way.‘
After hanging up, Cedrick walked to the bedside, hesitated, but still said, “Lucille, I… have to leave for a bit. I’ll be back to look after Grandma later.”
Lucille didn’t say a word.
But Robert looked at him with a smirk. “What’s the matter?
You’ve got some nerve saying that.”
Cedrick was furious.
Robert smiled, putting an arm around Lucille’s shoulder and taking Grandma’s hand. “Right here. The people most important to me are right here. So tell me, Cedrick, where are the people most important to you?”
“You…” Cedrick glared at him. “I’m only holding back because we’re in a hospital. You’d better watch yourself, or else…”
“Cedrick.”
Lucille cut him off. “Please remember this is a hospital. Just go. Don’t disturb Grandma.”
This was the first time Lucille had spoken to him today. He quickly looked at her, only to see her cold profile.
“Lucille…” he hesitated. “I’ll be back soon. As soon as I find Mari, I’ll be back…”
“If you’re going to leave, then just go. No one cares if you come back.”
Robert couldn’t help but interject.
But Cedrick kept his eyes on Lucille’s profile. “Lucille, you don’t care either?
Tell him, you don’t care either?”
Lucille frowned. “That’s right. I don’t care.”
Cedrick’s pupils dilated, his eyelids trembling violently, but he struggled to suppress his emotions, trying to calm himself. “Lucille, so much has happened recently, it’s all a mess. Wait for me, wait for me to sort things out, okay?”
Robert scoffed. “Even in all this chaos, you can still manage to sift through it all and figure out the most important thing is to go find your confidante. You’re really something else.”
