The Fifth Year of Marriage to Him novel Chapter 309

Cedrick stared at the screen, his mind groggy, filled with nothing but a roaring sound.

Maricela grabbed Cedrick’s clothes, anxiously trying to explain, “Cedrick, I didn’t mean to… I drank too much that day… I was emotional, I just really, really wanted to be with I’m you… sorry,

Cedrick…”

But Cedrick seemed not to hear her at all.

“Cedrick… Cedrick… You’re not mad at me, are you?

I really just drank too much…” Maricela cried, tears streaming down her face.

But Cedrick stood up.

“Cedrick-”

Behind him, Harlan and Maricela were both calling his name.

He didn’t stop, walking straight toward the front.

All along the way, people were pointing and whispering at him. To him, those voices were like a curse, trying to drag him down to hell…

No one knew why he had come forward. He just kept his head down, silent for a long while before he finally spoke. “I’m sorry. Because of my mistake, my wife, Lucille, has suffered a great deal, and I’ve also caused an unpleasant incident at Mr. Cruz’s banquet. I’m truly sorry.”

After speaking, he was too ashamed to remain there any longer and quickly left the venue.

“Cedrick!

Cedrick!”

Maricela and Harlan chased after him.

But Cedrick was already gone.

Inside the banquet hall, the projection screen was turned off. Edwin came out to offer an apology, but no one paid much mind to the interruption. After all, the main star of the evening was Mr. Cruz, and everyone had come for him.

Lucille looked toward the main entrance of the hall and said to Robert beside her, “Brother, some people just love taking money that isn’t theirs. They should be made to give it back, right?”

Robert nodded. “Agreed.”

The dinner continued. Outside the banquet hall, Harlan and Maricela looked back at the brightly lit interior, but they could no longer go inside.

However, they had barely driven a hundred yards when a car sped past and cut them off. The car didn’t move, it just stopped right in front of them, blocking the road.

Harlan was just about to get out of the car to curse them out when he saw several people get out of the other car.

They were all women, a few of the close friends Maricela used to hang out with.

“Marcela, get your ass out here!”

The group of women surrounded the car, pounding on the windows aggressively.

“Wh–what’s going on?”

Maricela had been a nervous wreck all night, and now she was trembling

“Get out here!”

The car doors were locked. No matter how much they pounded and knocked, Maricela hid in the car. Harlan kept the doors locked tight, pretending he couldn’t hear them.
