Chapter 316
Cedrick gave a bitter smile. Right. David had left early last night and didn’t follow gossip, so he had no idea what happened, did he?
“Cancel it.”
he said.
“What?”
This time, it was David’s turn to be confused.
“I said, the meeting’s over. We’re not having it.
“I
He couldn’t bring himself to submit the proposal to Rossi’s company anymore.
“Cedrick…”
“Let’s just drop it. We’re not struggling anymore.”
He hung up, got in his car, and headed to the office.
Just like always, he parked in the company spot in the building’s underground garage. But as soon as he got out of the car, a group of people pointed at him and said, “Hey, that’s him!
The guy from the trending topics list last night!
Cedrick, the boss of that company in Tower A!”
“The cheating player?”
“Yeah, that’s him!”
“What are you waiting for?
Get him!”
Out of nowhere, Cedrick was hit by a pile of trash.
They were all strangers. Someone had dumped out the trash can next to his parking spot and was throwing it all at him.

Chapter 316
The stinking garbage hit his face, his body, his head.

“You guys…” He had just started to speak when something foul–smelling hit him right in the mouth. He didn’t know what it was that went into his mouth, but the stench was overwhelming. He couldn’t help but lean against a pillar and start to retch.
Those guys came and went quickly.
In a flash, only Cedrick was left, leaning against the trash can by his car. He couldn’t throw up, but his stomach was churning horribly.
The garage janitor came out, saw the mess on the ground, and started yelling at Cedrick, “You’re dressed all nice, so why are you doing something like this?
Out of all things, you’re playing with trash?
You must be trash yourself!
Why don’t you just throw yourself away like trash!”
As she spoke, she used her broom to jab Cedrick’s foot while sweeping.
Cedrick couldn’t explain himself. Fighting the urge to vomit, he took the broom from the janitor, “I’m sorry… retch… Ma’am… I’ll… I’ll sweep it… retch…”
“Hmph, clean it all up!
And wash the floor too!”
The janitor wasn’t cutting him any slack.
The people hiding behind a wall around another corner glanced at each other, nodded, and left.
They had planned to clean up the trash after Cedrick left, but since he was cleaning it himself, they decided to let him.
He belonged with the trash anyway!
Looking like this, Cedrick couldn’t go to the office. After cleaning up, he drove home.
He took another shower and sat in a chair, staring into space.
This was the chair Lucille used to sit in often.
She would sit here to binge–watch shows, read, and oh, right, she probably studied Porilinese too.

Chapter 316
Her things were still on this desk. There were pens in the pen holder, and several books she had read were on the desk–art history.
He opened the drawer, and it was also full of books. He pulled one out; it was a book of Porilinese Test practice questions.
He remembered her Porilinese wasn’t very good. She was an art student, and from what he recalled, her grades in high school weren’t great. The last time he’d flipped through her Porilinese Test book, her answers were a complete mess.
He flipped it open casually and was startled to see that wasn’t right. This reading score was already a 7.
Looking closer, he saw she had dated every test, marking the month and day she completed it.
This book was mostly from the first half of this year. She had done very well, with her highest score being an 8.
But most were around 6.5.
Then, at the very bottom of the drawer, he found an envelope. It was for her Porilinese Test results. He opened it and found five or six score reports inside, from an initial 5 to the last three scores, which were all 6.
