Are you feeling unwell?”
Lucille smelled the sweet fragrance coming from Mrs. Hurley, felt an inexplicable calm, shook her head, choked up, “I’m fine, thank you.”
Mrs. Hurley gently stroked her back, comforting her, then said to Mr. Wilson, “Lucille, I told you about her, the little friend I specially invited today.”
Mr. Wilson seemed to still be thinking about who Lucille was.
Maricela’s face had changed, looking at Cedrick as if to say: Why is Mrs. Wilson being so polite to Lucille?
Cedrick was equally baffled; he had no idea his wife had any connection to the Wilson family. What was going on?
Mrs. Wilson then shot her husband a reproachful glance. “Lucille, our son’s lifesaver. Did you forget?”
Mr. Wilson suddenly remembered. “Ah, the girl from the dance academy?
Miss Radford, my apologies for the oversight.”
Maricela and Cedrick were even more confused: How did Lucille become the Wilson heir’s lifesaver?
The woman who arrived with Mrs. Wilson extended a friendly hand to Lucille. “Hello, Lucille. I’m Thomas. Pleased to meet you.”
Lucille looked at Thomas, then recalled Maricela’s mention of the Wilson eldest son, and couldn’t help but smile.
Maricela’s face flushed, paled, then turned ashen.
Aydan wasn’t about to let her off the hook, chuckling, “Sis, you should appear in public more often. People are start- ing rumors that our eldest son Thomas has three heads and six arms.”
“That exaggerated?
Since when was I the eldest son?
Aren’t you the eldest?” Thomas laughed.
“Wouldn’t dare, sis. Don’t tease me–I’m just the little brother.”
Aydan grinned at Lucille. “My status at home isn’t even as important as Poppy’s.”
“Poppy is our family dog,” Mrs. Wilson explained to Lucille.
Lucille’s eyes crinkled with laughter at this family.

So harmonious. So amusing.
She wasn’t actually close with them, yet she felt their genuine warmth.
Only Maricela choked with fury. That Thomas wasn’t the eldest son had already humiliated her thoroughly. Recalling how she’d bragged to Lucille about knowing Thomas well, she wished the ground would swallow her whole!
Now this dancer she’d insulted was actually a Wilson son?
Watching Lucille laugh and chat with the family, Maricela snapped. She yelled at Aydan, “Aren’t you a dancer?
Isn’t your surname Hurley?”
Aydan smirked. “I take my mother’s surname. Problem?”
What?!
Maricela stumbled backward, collapsing into a chair.
Aydan was the real Wilson heir? Then… her mocking remarks had offended the entire Wilson family?
What about Cedrick’s collaboration with the Wilsons…
Maricela’s outburst drew Mrs. Wilson’s attention.
Still holding Lucille’s hand, Mrs. Wilson pointed at Maricela. “You! You’re the one who tripped Lucille earlier. Who are you?
What is your intention?
Sabotaging my event?”
Like a thunderbolt from clear sky, Maricela panicked. Her first instinct was denial. “I… I didn’t, Mrs. Wilson! Don’t listen to lies! I never…”
She then turned on Lucille. “Lucille! I know you dislike me, but you can’t slander me like this!
Mrs. Wilson, she’s framing me! I never stuck my foot out or tripped her!
Ask her for proof if you don’t believe me! You can’t just take her word for it!”
“Proof?”
Mrs. Wilson’s laugh was icy. “My eyes are the evidence!”
I saw it with my own eyes!
Would I lie about you?”
Maricela’s face turned deathly pale, her entire being crumbling as she couldn’t utter another word.
But what did it matter?

Lucille knew Cedrick would stand by Maricela’s side no matter what. Even if Maricela ruined his business deals, she’d always be his precious Maricela.
Right on cue, Cedrick walked over to Lucille.
