Chapter 3Passenger Seat
Lindseydeliberately dawdled.
It wasn’t until Eliezer called her a second time that she finally left the villa.
When the man in the car saw her jogging over, his tightly knit brows relaxed slightly. He turned sideways and adjusted a gift box on the front passenger seat.
“Sorry, I took a nap this afternoon. Sorry to keep you waiting.”
Lindsey opened the back door and sat upright, explaining herself.
Eliezer glanced at her through the rearview mirror, his hands tightening around the steering wheel. “You’re going to the dinner party dressed like that?”
“Huh?” Lindsey looked down at her outfit. “Is it not okay? It’s just a family dinner. Shouldn’t matter.”
Eliezer tossed the gift box on the front passenger seat to her. “Getchanged.”
The white box was marked with the Sprince logo. Lindsey immediately recognized it as one of the latest spring/summer dresses released by the brand.
Shehesitated. She placed the box back. “This is a gift for Jaelyn, isn’t it? It wouldn’t be right for me to wear it.”
Eliezer tapped the steering wheel with his fingers, pausing for a second. “Our divorce hasn’t been announced yet. If you show up like that, are you trying to embarrass the Woodward family?”

“But…”
“I’ve prepared anothergift for Jaelyn. This one was from the supplier. I just left it in the car.”
Eliezer cut her off coldly, his tone brooking no refusal. “Go change.”
“Fine.”
With no other choice, Lindsey took the gift box back into the house, changed into the dress, and returned.
The pale blue dress made herskinlook even fairer. The dressshimmered as she moved. It was just it wasn’t her size.
If it weren’t a bit loose at the waist, she would’ve really liked it.
She quickly came downstairs after changing. But when she reached for the back door, she found it was locked.
Eliezer’s displeased voice came from inside.“Sit in the front.”
Lindsey frowned. “That’s not really appropriate.”
In her mind, the front passenger seat was reserved for the girlfriend. If there wasn’t one, it was still meant for someone close. Clearly, she was neither.
Eliezer turned to look at her. “So it’s appropriate to treat me like adriver?”
…That’s not what I meant.”
Lindsey scratched her head, trying to explain her logic to Eliezer.
He stared at her in silence for two seconds. “Jaclyn isn’t like you. She wouldn’t fuss over such trivial things. Get in. I’m not saying it again.”
Lindsey chose to be difficult. “Then I’m not going. I doubt she wants to

see me anyway.”
She lifted her dressand turned to leave. The car horn stopped her, followed by the Eliezer’s annoyed voice. “Get in.”
Lindsey tugged on the back door. It opened.
She raised an eyebrow and got in. Sincethe dress didn’t fit well and the hem was a bit elaborate, it took her a while to settle in properly.
Eliezer started the engine. “The dress doesn’t fit?”
Lindsey replied carelessly, “Yeah, a little loose. I’ll pin it when we get there. Don’t worry.I won’t embarrass you.”
Before she could finish, the car braked hard, cutting her off mid–sentence.
She hadn’t buckled her seatbelt in the back, and her head bumped hard against the front seat, leaving her head buzzing.
What a jerk! Even if he wanted her dead, did he really have to go that far? If anything happened, he’d be in trouble too.
Without a word, Lindsey pulled the seatbelt over and buckled it. Her gaze drifted to the scenery flying past the window
Back when they were abroad, she held the title of Mrs. Woodward, and everyone knew she liked Eliezer. Killing her off to make room for Jaelyn would’ve been convenient. Now that she had obediently signed the divorce papers, surely he wouldn’t insist on making her disappear.
To avoid any future complications, Lindsey still hoped the divorce could be finalized soon.
“So…have the divorce papers been processed yet?”
