Chapter 145 We Still Have a Kiss Scene Together

Amelia and Jeremy’s rehearsal went perfectly, with everything falling into place. They both acted like total pros.
They both had a great grasp of their lines, the shifts in their characters‘ moods, and all the subtle changes in expression.
It was obvious to both of them that the other took this project seriously. Clearly, they had each spent a lot of time studying the script on their own.
While running their lines, they got to a romantic scene with some sweet lines.
“Even if everyone else in this world abandons you, I’ll always stay by your side, never leaving you.”
That was a line Jeremy’s character said to Amelia’s character.
It sounded like a simple, ordinary line–something that you’d see in any drama.
But for some reason, when Jeremy spoke the words, there was a kind of magic to it.
Amelia felt dazed, as if the line between the story and reality had suddenly blurred.
His deep, rich voice was like a cello played by a master.
Each word seemed to strike the most sensitive part of her heart, making her want to give in to the moment.
Right then, the script called for Jeremy to gently take Amelia’s hand.
The moment his hand touched hers, Amelia’s body shivered slightly, and her heart raced.
She almost wanted to pull her hand back, but she didn’t. She just sat there, looking at him.
No one knew how much time passed before he finally let out a quiet laugh.
“You… what are you laughing at?” If this guy weren’t so handsome, or if his laugh weren’t so melodious, I would have given him a good smack!
She had to admit she was a sucker for good looks.
“If you keep zoning out like this, you’re going to get a lot of retakes on filming day.”
“I think we need to practice this part a few more times.”

Jeremy wished he could rehearse the scene 10 or 100 more times. Her hand was so soft that he didn’t want to let go.
He might have acted like a pro, but under his calm surface, his heart was pounding uncontrollably.
He was even more nervous than Amelia, but he forced himself to act cool so she wouldn’t make
fun of him.
“No way. I think we should call it a day.” Once Amelia had fully calmed down, she pulled her hand away with confidence.
“I think when it’s time for the actual shooting, I’ll do just fine.”
“Really?” Jeremy raised his eyebrows and gave her a long look.
“You know we still have a kiss scene together, right?”
That made both their hearts skip a beat.
Still, on the outside, they both pretended not to care and kept a straight face.
“No matter what scene it is, I’ll give it my all. I hope you will, too.”
Hearing that, Jeremy grinned and replied, “Of course, I’m just being myself.”
Jeremy felt that his character’s feelings for Amelia’s character, and all those little gestures- holding hands, even kissing–were just him being himself.
Hearing that, Amelia felt her face get warm again.
Being himself? What does he mean by that?
She was afraid of reading too much into things and making a fool of herself, so she just ignored what he said.
With things like this, there was no way they could keep running lines together.
After a while, Jeremy left, with Amelia pretty much shooing him out of her place.
On the day of actual filming, they both got into character quickly once the cameras rolled, just like Amelia had predicted.
They nailed every line, every look, and every mood swing.

On camera, even the tiniest changes in expression are magnified, which is a real test of an actor’s skills.
But they both pulled it off.
The only time Amelia slipped up was during the more intimate romantic scenes–she was just a
bit nervous.
She was especially nervous during the kiss scene, where they had to do several retakes.
After all, giving her first on–screen kiss in front of everyone was bound to make her nervous.
“Don’t worry, this is my first kiss too. On–screen and in real life. You’re not the only one who’s
nervous.”
Right then, Jeremy whispered softly in her ear.
On the surface, it seemed like he was trying to encourage her and give her confidence. But to Amelia, it felt more like he was just telling her on purpose.
Who cares if it’s his first kiss… whatever.
Even though she told herself that, she couldn’t help but feel her heart pounding.
But Jeremy was great at helping her relax. He gently took her hand and looked into her eyes.
She could see her own reflection in his eyes–he looked at her like she was the only person in the world.
That sense of security calmed her right away.
After that, the filming went perfectly. They finally pulled off the kiss scene.
When it was over, Amelia’s face was bright red. She quickly pulled away from Jeremy and ducked her head, fixing her hair to hide how flustered she felt.
