After all, this was the Nygards‘ party. If anyone discovered what happened here, there was no way to keep it from reaching Amelia’s ears.
Sure, Gianna was a nice girl and darling of the family, but Vincent had finally realized how blind he had been.
Amelia wasn’t just more beautiful and elegant; she was also far more accomplished. Everything about her was dazzling.
And with Amelia’s company shares, Vincent saw no reason to choose Gianna.
His mother had been right all along. If he was going to marry, he should marry someone like Amelia–capable, classy, and from a powerful family.
Vincent jumped out of bed and scrambled to get dressed. He was urging Gianna to do the
same.
“We’ll deal with this later,” he muttered. “No one can find out!”
But sometimes, the more you fear something, the faster it happens.
Just as he was halfway dressed, the door suddenly swung open.
A crowd of people poured in.
“Vincent! Are you okay? You looked a little off earlier, so I came to check on you,” Diana said quickly.
She was the first to step inside, gesturing for the rest to follow.
Diana had brought a spare key just for this moment–to stage a surprise attack.
Right after she spoke, her eyes darted toward the bed. Someone was lying there, face covered by the blanket.
From the angle, she couldn’t see clearly, but she assumed it was Amelia. With feigned shock, she gasped, “Oh my God, Vincent! Who’s that woman on your bed? What are you two doing?”
“Mom, there’s no one here! You’re seeing things!”
For the first time in his life, Vincent wanted to kick his mother out.
She couldn’t have picked a worse time to make things worse.

And just like that, everything got messed up–thanks to his wonderful mother.

Emery, Marcelo, and Maxwell, who had followed in confusion, were now staring at the bed as well.
There really was a woman there. And all three were guessing whether it was Amelia.
“Amelia, is that you? Get up now!”
“Even if you two were once engaged, you’re not married! How could you do something like this at Gianna’s birthday party? Have you no shame?”
“You’re disgracing the whole family! Get up before I lose
my mind!”
The three of them–mother and sons alike—were certain the woman hiding under the blanket was Amelia. They shouted furiously, cursing her without holding back.
Gianna, hearing their furious voices, curled up under the covers, pretending to be frightened. Then, she let out a soft, pitiful sob.
In the quiet room, the sound of her crying was sharp and clear, drawing everyone’s attention.
“M–Mom… Marcelo … Maxwell, I—I …”
Gianna slowly peeked her head out from under the blanket. Her voice was barely a whisper.
When they looked closer, the people on the bed came into focus–and what they saw froze them where they stood.
All three were struck dumb, their eyes wide in disbelief. Their pupils tightening as if hit by lightning. Their lips trembled, but not a single word came out.
It was Gianna.
The woman in bed–was Gianna!
Diana’s eyes went wide with disbelief. Her mind went completely blank.
This wasn’t how the plan was supposed to go. For a moment, she stood there, stiff and stunned -time itself seemed to stop.
Emery and her sons stood frozen in shock. Their eyes looked like they might pop out of their
heads.
“Gianna? W–why would it be you? Why are you with Vincent—”

“Oh my God! Gianna, you need to put your clothes on before we talk!”
Unlike her sons, Emery’s first instinct wasn’t anger but concern. As a mother and a woman, she just wanted to protect her daughter’s dignity and ease her embarrassment.
She quickly told everyone to turn around and give Gianna a moment to dress before she spoke.
Gianna, however, wasn’t as shaken as she appeared. She had already guessed this would be their reaction. She wasn’t truly frightened; she just needed to look the part.
She knew them well enough to be certain they’d take her side no matter what happened.
…”
“Mom… Marcelo… Maxwell … ” She sobbed softly, her voice trembling.
“I–I don’t even know what happened. I came here to talk to Vincent. The moment I walked in, he pulled me onto the bed. I tried to fight him off, I really did… but he was too strong. He seemed drunk or something, and then… and then … ”
Gianna tried her best to hold back her tears, her voice shaking as she tried to explain what had happened. But before she could finish, her words broke apart into soft, trembling sobs.
Her reddened eyes brimmed with tears that streamed down her cheeks. She looked heartbroken yet scared. She tried to hold back her tears, but her effort was in vain. The sight alone could melt anyone’s heart.
When she reached the most painful part of her story, she finally lost control. Her shoulders shook. She broke down completely, crying so hard she couldn’t even speak.
Everyone who heard her fell silent for a moment—then their faces flushed with anger. Their eyes burned red with fury. In that instant, they all thought the same thing. Vincent was a
monster!
