Chapter 255 First Day Back at Nygard Group
He wasn’t there. Guess one of his buddies or spies was, huh?
She was so embarrassed!
It was literally the most awkward situation ever.
“I thought something serious had happened, but you just lost a game? You scared me!”
“Hehe.” It wasn’t just losing a game.
But it was so embarrassing she couldn’t even tell anyone what really happened.
Meanwhile …
Jeremy saw her completely ghost him and laughed out loud.
So cute.
Turns out even a tough, wild girl like her can have a shy, adorable side.
He was in such a good mood. Even if she never replied, it didn’t bother him one bit.

He couldn’t resist opening the video Anderson sent again. He even edited it so only Amelia’s voice stayed, cutting everyone else out.
Such a priceless video–he’d probably keep it forever.
Smiling, he hit play one more time.
“Sorry, but I think Jeremy is better than you in every way. You don’t have to be jealous and talk trash about him.
“He’s hotter than you, taller and more fit, way richer, is better at his job, and has more power,
too.
“He’s more commanding, more decisive, knows how to treat women, he’s basically better than you at everything. Don’t you see that?
“So what? People these days don’t care about forever,’ they just live for the moment, right?
“Lots of women wish they were me and don’t have the chance, so why should I worry about the future, huh?”
He’d put it on repeat all afternoon, listening to it over and over.

Now he felt like he couldn’t even sleep without listening to that recording before bed.
Nygard Group.
It was Amelia’s first official day at Nygard Group, and the moment she arrived, she was greeted with a grand welcome.
That honestly surprised her.
“Ms. Nygard, Mr. Carter gave us instructions early this morning. Once you arrived, we were to take you to your office.
“If you need anything, just let us know.
“Ms. Nygard, your private office is right next to Mr. Carter’s. We cleaned and decorated it ahead of time based on your usual style.
“If there’s anything you’d like to add or change, please tell us.”
Amelia had shown up empty–handed, planning to quietly come and go–no attention, no fuss, no trace left behind.
She totally didn’t expect such a grand, formal welcome. All that “Ms. Nygard this, Ms. Nygard that” felt too much. She wasn’t used to it at all.
The only reason she came to help out at Nygard Group was to protect her grandpa’s legacy and reclaim what was rightfully hers.
She’d never planned to sit in an office nine to five every day.
She had told Elian that she was only there to be a core consultant, to fix some tricky, high- priority issues, and join the secret, key company projects.
So she didn’t need to be in the office all day unless something special came up.
She had other things to do, not just Nygard Group business.
Elian knew that. They’d even signed an official contract about it.
So, all this big fuss caught her off guard.
“Um, you
all
go focus on your jobs. I’ll take care of myself.”
Amelia didn’t need anyone to tag along. This wasn’t her first time here.
Her grandpa used to bring her around the company all the time, teaching her how things

So she wasn’t unfamiliar with the Nygard Group; she knew it pretty well.

“Ms. Nygard, Mr. Raymond and Mr. Marcelo also mentioned this. They told us to make sure you’re well taken care of.
“If you need anything, please don’t hesitate to tell us.”
Right now, Amelia was one of the company’s VIPs. Both Elian and the two Nygards had personally told everyone to look after her.
So anyone who interacted with her–whether senior staff or brown–nosers–gave her the best service possible.
“Um, okay,” Amelia said, thinking that if she didn’t agree, they’d likely stick to her like glue.
What surprised her was that Raymond and Marcelo had given the same exact orders to the staff.
The more she thought about it, the more she suspected they weren’t trying to care for her; they were trying to plant spies to monitor her, right?
After all, she hadn’t forgotten Raymond and Marcelo’s past actions, especially with that whole company shares drama before.
They’d done plenty in the name of “worrying” about her, all for their own benefit.
So why were they suddenly so attentive now?
Amelia kept a straight face and didn’t say anything else, heading straight for her office.
When she got there, Elian happened to drop by. The group of employees trailing behind her finally got the hint and left.
