**Chapter 380: Masks and Mirrors**
“I’ve always sensed that Amelia resents my presence under the same roof. Perhaps it would be best if I simply moved out, allowing her to reclaim her space. Maybe, just maybe, that would put an end to all the incessant drama.”
Jeremy’s words had struck Gianna like a sharp blow. The sting of his verbal assault lingered in her chest, igniting a fire of fury and humiliation within her. How could he lash out so easily?
Yet, beneath that wave of anger, she clung to an unusual sense of confidence.
Deep down, Gianna refused to believe that Jeremy’s disdain stemmed from any lack of charm on her part, nor did she think it was because she was particularly annoying.
No, she was convinced that the true culprit behind Jeremy’s negative impression was none other than Amelia. That wretched woman must have been whispering poison into his ear, painting a picture of her that was far from the truth.
That conniving bitch had undoubtedly spun a web of lies, feeding him a plethora of stories that left him with a distorted view of her.
Gianna was not one to cower easily. No, she had a few tricks up her sleeve. She decided to stir the pot, hoping to create a rift between Amelia and Miguel.
“Then by all means, move out. You’ve threatened to do it for years but never followed through. If you actually manage to leave, I might just consider making my way back home,” Amelia replied, her voice icy and devoid of warmth.
Her gaze pierced through Gianna, filled with contempt. The relentless cycle of Gianna’s grievances was wearing thin on her nerves.
What irked Amelia even more was the fact that their family seemed to buy into Gianna’s antics year after year.
And, as expected, Miguel fell for it yet again.
He rose from his seat, frustration etched across his face. “Amelia, you can’t just dictate to Gianna like that. If this is how you plan to come home, then none of us will ever agree to it!”
After chastising Amelia, he turned his attention to Gianna, his voice softening. “Don’t pay her any mind. She’s merely trying to manipulate you into leaving. We won’t allow that to happen.”
Amelia nearly rolled her eyes in exasperation.
Who in their right mind would want to move back in?
And while she was uncertain about Maxwell’s stance on the situation, she was quite sure that Marcelo was just as eager as she was for Gianna to vacate the premises.
Gianna’s true nature was becoming increasingly apparent. The moniker “Ms. Pitfall” was starting to suit her all too well. Marcelo was likely fed up with the endless charade by now.
Amelia harbored a belief that one day, Miguel would come to regret his position the most. He would be the one to react the strongest, perhaps even wishing he could rid himself of Gianna once and for all.
Tsk, tsk. She couldn’t wait to witness that day unfold.
And there was no way Raymond would allow Gianna to linger with the family indefinitely.
After Amelia’s last private meeting with him, she had uncovered a shocking revelation. Raymond was already aware that Gianna was not his biological daughter.
