apter 75 Exposed
She struggled to her feet. “Grandma–my whole body hurts. Take me to the hospital.”
Ursula’s gaze cut like a blade. “Not yet. If we’re checking this, we’ll check it properly.”

Emery saw Gianna pale and trembling and felt a knife in her chest. “Mom, we should take Gianna to the hospital first–falling down stairs could mean a concussion.”
Raymond hurried to call Marcelo and have him take Gianna to the ER.
Gianna swallowed gratefully; she was desperate to get away before everything blew up.
Ursula almost held to her position, but Marcelo was already carrying Gianna out the door.
George had the surveillance footage ready.
The high–definition video showed it clearly: Gianna lunged at Amelia first, and after being shoved off, she deliberately toppled toward the stairs.
More shocking, during the fall she adjusted her body to protect the vital parts–she’d shielded her head, so a concussion was unlikely.
Maybe not even a scratch.
Ursula let out a long, disappointed sigh.
She hadn’t seen Gianna in a while; she didn’t expect her to turn into someone like this.
The girl felt like a stranger now–she used to seem so obedient.
Ursula closed her eyes and drew a slow breath, holding back her anger and disappointment.
“Mom…” Emery started, uneasy, but Ursula raised a hand to stop her.
“Enough. You’ve spoiled her all these years, and this is what she becomes–so scheming?” Ursula snapped.
Raymond fell silent, forehead creased.
He had always doted on Gianna, but the footage left no argument.
Amelia stood off to the side, expression cool, as if none of it concerned her.
“Amelia, what do you make of this?” Ursula suddenly asked, her tone low and authoritative.

A small, almost amused smile touched Amelia’s lips. “The truth is right in front of you, Grandma. You’ll decide. I have nothing more to add.”
Ursula watched her for a moment, then exhaled. “You really know how to keep your composure.”
No wonder Conrad left most of the shares to Amelia when he died.
He really knew how to judge people!
Among the grandchildren, Amelia was steady and reliable.
Emery couldn’t help but interject, “Mom, maybe Gianna just made a stupid mistake—she’s young, we-”
Ursula scoffed. “Young? Knowing how to set up your own sister? Knowing how to fake an injury to win sympathy? That kind of scheming doesn’t happen overnight.”
If this kept up, she’d be completely ruined.
Emery went quiet, her face flushing.
Just then, Marcelo rushed back in.
He bowed his head before Ursula. “Gianna’s … she’s okay. She’s just shaken.”
Ursula snorted. “Of course she’s fine. It was all staged.”
Marcelo faltered. This was bad–Ursula was furious, and that made things difficult.
“Grandma, Gianna isn’t like that-”
Marcelo started, but Ursula’s sharp look cut him off.
His throat bobbed; he fell silent.
Emery gripped her son’s arm and murmured, “Marcelo, don’t—”
Ursula was still too angry; arguing now would only make things worse.
Eventually, she would calm down, and they’d sort it out–Ursula loved Gianna too, but she was heartbroken.
Marcelo pursed his lips and stayed silent.

Chapter 75 Exposed
A little later, Gianna came back in with her head down.
She would have preferred the hospital–anything but facing them.
But she hadn’t even scraped herself badly; the doctors refused to admit her.
So, she forced herself back into the room.

Standing in the center of the living room, she twisted at her sleeve, eyes rimmed red, voice barely audible. “Grandma … I was wrong.”
Ursula’s stare was cold as a knife. “What exactly did you do wrong?”
Tears streamed from Gianna in heavy drops. “I–I shouldn’t have faked a fall to frame my sister.”
Emery reached out, heartbroken, but Raymond grabbed her arm to hold her back.
“I was just so scared,” Gianna hiccupped. “Amelia is the real Nygard daughter, and I’m the foster child. I was afraid you all would stop loving me–but I already think of you as family.
“Grandma, I was selfish–punish me. I won’t ever do it again.”
She suddenly dropped to her knees and slapped herself hard.
The family winced in sympathy.

Amelia gave a short, mirthless laugh. Gianna really knew how to play them.
She was a master at playing the victim.
That pitiful look–who wouldn’t feel sorry for her?
Amelia noticed a flicker of hesitation in Ursula’s
eyes.
