Chapter 211 Drenched in Wine, Carried in Arms
The bar was starting to fill up with people. A steady stream of customers came in from the street.
Finished
Eliza, who normally didn’t drink much, now sipped cocktails through a straw like she was drinking juice- expressionless, composed, as if the alcohol were water.
The bar owner, watching from nearby, inhaled sharply.
Was this even humanly possible?
Was this the speed a real person drank?
By the time Eliza downed her second drink and burped softly, she had already begun sipping on the third.
At first, no one noticed the quiet girl in the corner. But after she powered through two drinks in under a minute–clearly taking on the bar’s drinking challenge–heads began to turn.
By her fourth glass, the alcohol had begun to blur her mind. Her thoughts turned fuzzy and slow.
But she didn’t want to think–about anything.
So her expression and posture stayed still and blank, like she was lost in a trance.
“She’s not seriously going to finish all twelve, is she?”
This “Drunkard Challenge” usually had a few winners each night.
But today was something else–first challenger of the night, and it was a girl.
She looked young, maybe a college freshman.
A few students were already whispering.
“Isn’t that Eliza from the freshman finance program?”
“Yeah, yeah! I heard she’s the long–lost daughter of the Sue family!”
“No she’s not! She denied that herself.”
“No wonder she’s drowning herself in booze…”
Around her, the speculation grew, each guess more off–base than the last. Most assumed Eliza was heartbroken over being disowned by the Sue family.
“Move aside.”
Nolan finally arrived, tracking her location through his phone.
By then, Eliza had already been at the bar for over an hour.
Several Claire University students were trying to strike up conversations and even ask for her WhatsApp.

But Eliza was too far gone to answer. Her head spun, and coherent thought had left her.
Seeing that, Nolan’s face turned stormy.
“You still conscious? Want me to take you home?” one of the guys asked, reaching out to help her stand.
But before his hand could brush her arm, Nolan grabbed his wrist.
“Who the hell are you?”
The guy clearly didn’t appreciate the interruption.
But Nolan’s sharp glare made him instantly shrink back. He didn’t say another word, dragging his friends back to their table.
“How much did you drink?” Nolan asked,,voice low.
Eliza, who rarely lost control, looked up at him.
That stubborn little face was now clouded with hurt. “Why’d you take so long? I messaged you so many times…”
Nolan froze.
Was it the alcohol, or were her eyes actually glistening with tears?
“I… was handling something. I didn’t check my phone.”
“Right… I shouldn’t have bothered you.”
She stood abruptly, but dizziness hit her like a wave and she collapsed back into the seat.
Nolan caught her before she could fall.
“Let’s go. We’re going home.”
He picked her up without hesitation.
Eliza didn’t resist–she just slumped in his arms.
The bar owner cautiously approached with the bill. “Uh… sir, she still hasn’t paid…”
Suddenly, Nolan’s assistant and several bodyguards swept into the bar.
Startled by the imposing presence, the owner flinched and stammered, “L–look, this is a clean place. I don’t care how many people you bring. If she doesn’t pay, I’m calling the cops!”
Nolan ignored him and walked out.
The assistant pulled out a thick wad of cash, handing over five hundred. “Will this do?”
In the car, Eliza couldn’t sit still.

She’d never drunk this much before–and the tears flowed uncontrollably.
Nolan gently wiped her face with tissues.
“So weird… I didn’t even want to cry…”
She was sobbing, snot and all.
