Henry smiled faintly and said. “As the head of the Hayes family, how could he not have a fiancée? They grew up together. Nolan’s been protecting her very well–sent her overseas two years ago. I heard you two were together now, but Nolan has a fiancée. You don’t mind, do you? After all… your mother knew Mr. Goldbert had a wife and still stayed with him. Even gave birth to you.”

Henry’s words sent stabbing pain through Eliza’s chest.

She knew perfectly well he was saying all this on purpose.

But even so, Nolan still hadn’t let go of that girl.

“I never cared about being the head of your precious family. If you’ve got the skills, take it for yourself. Don’t take it out on me.”

Her face was frosty, her voice even more so.

Halbert had no idea what had gotten into Eliza. Everything coming out of her mouth was fire.

When Eliza returned to the banquet hall, Halbert turned to the bodyguards. “Go start the car.”

“Is that really okay? If Mr. Tristan finds out, we’ll be in trouble.”

“I’ve got your back. What are you afraid of? Go!”

“…Yes, sir.”

The bodyguards quickly went outside to bring the car around.

Just as Christian was about to turn around, a bodyguard stepped up. “Mr. Christian, Mr. Halbert has driven

off.”

“He left? Where’d he go?”

Christian’s gut clenched.

What the hell was that idiot up to now?

“He said he went back to the Sue family home to toss out Ms. Cassandra’s luggage!”

Christian’s eyes widened.

Since when did Halbert turn into such a child?

Throwing someone’s luggage out?

“Keep an eye on Ms. Cassandra. I’m going to check things out. And don’t let her drink any more.”
