Wendy chimed in, “But her uncle’s dead, right? No one even knows where he’s buried. That ring’s probably long gone.”

“He may be dead, but his wife and daughter are still alive,” Henry said pointedly.

“Only problem is,” Henry added, feigning hesitation, “Naomi’s living with the Hartwell family now. They’re not some rich aristocrats, but they do have a decent reputation in Westbrook. They’ve also got ties to the underworld. Starting trouble could get messy.”

Mr. Felix snorted. “So what? Send someone to the Hartwell family now. It’s just a woman. I still carry weight. If Nathaniel won’t hand her over, then we won’t/play nice.”
