The Heiress’s Second Chance at Vengeance
Chapter 424 A Cold Couch and a Warmer Bed
After a long while, Eliza couldn’t help but say, “Don’t you think it’s kind of cold on the couch?
When Nolan heard her, he slowly opened his eyes.
“If you’re cold, come sleep over here.”
Eliza said, “There’s still plenty of space on the bed.”
She even patted the empty spot
ide her.
Nolan got up from the couch almost immediately and walked over to the bed.
But somehow, a wire seemed loose in his head. He said, “Are you scared to sleep alone? Am I too far away?”
He grabbed another blanket and laid down beside her, keeping a bit of distance.
“Go ahead and sleep. I’ll stay right here with you.”
Eliza had never met anyone this dense when it came to these things.
She thought she was slow to pick up on hints–but Nolan made her look quick in comparison.
“I’m worried you’ll catch a cold. What are you doing with that blanket?”
She pulled her own comforter over Nolan. Now they were sharing one, and the warmth quickly filled the space between them.
Nolan kept half an arm’s distance from her.
Once she saw he was covered up, Eliza lay down and tried to
sleep.

But maybe it was because there was suddenly a man in her bed–she couldn’t fall asleep no matter how much she tossed and turned.
When she opened her eyes again, Nolan was lying on his side, facing her.

His eyelashes were long, and with his eyes closed, he didn’t look cold or distant at all. He even seemed a little gentle.
Hearing the steady rhythm of his breathing, Eliza whispered, “Nolan, are you asleep?”
Nolan answered in a low voice, “Not yet. Can’t sleep?”
“…A little.”
She really wanted to curl up in his arms.
Nolan smelled really good–unlike anything she’d
ever smelled before.
Eliza loved that scent. She wanted to be close enough to breathe it in.
So she scooted closer without thinking, and when Nolan sensed her moving toward him, he didn’t move away. When she nestled into his chest, he drew her in even more.

“Just sleep
His voice was deep and quiet.
Maybe it was because she finally felt safe–Eliza quickly fell asleep in Nolan’s arms.
The next morning.
Eliza felt like something was under her. When she opened her eyes, she realized her head was resting on a Nolan’s arm.
Surprised, she asked, “You let me sleep on your arm all night?”
“Yeah.”
Nolan smiled. “You slept really well, I didn’t feel tired at all.”
“You could’ve at least pushed me off. You let me lie there the whole time…”
“Hmm?”
He said, “I was hoping you’d sleep longer. You looked so peaceful, it helped me sleep too.”
Her face turned hot. She quickly got up from bed.
In the living room, breakfast had already been set out.
Nolan had taken the time earlier to call the front desk and ask them to send up a full spread.
When Eliza saw the table, she froze. Everything laid out was exactly what she liked.
Nolan had remembered all her favorites.
“You asked for all this?”
“I figured you’d be hungry.”
Nolan picked up the food and brought it right to her lips.
