Jaden leaped down from the car roof like a phantom descending from the clouds. His boots hit the ground with a solid thud that echoed in Damian Blake’s ears louder than the pounding of his own terrified heartbeat.
Before Damian could react, Jaden seized him by the collar, lifting him effortlessly off his feet like a rag doll. Their faces were inches apart.
“No one’s coming to save you,” Jaden whispered with a deadly calm, his grip tightening, his eyes dark and merciless.
Suddenly—
VROOOOM!
A roaring engine tore through the still air as a military jeep screeched to a halt nearby, dust swirling in the headlights.
The car door slammed open, and out stepped a broad-shouldered man in a crisp military uniform, his face stern, his boots polished to a mirror shine. Dozens of armed soldiers followed, fanning out in formation like trained wolves awaiting orders.
Captain Kelvin had arrived.
Damian’s eyes lit up with desperate hope as he stumbled forward, straightening his wrinkled collar, forcing a fake smile onto his pale face.
“Captain Kelvin! You came just in time!” Damian barked, his voice laced with false bravado. “I called for you the second I heard! Who the hell dares humiliate the Blake family on our own estate?!”
Kelvin’s sharp eyes scanned the scene, his boots crunching on gravel as he approached. His men followed closely, rifles ready, tension crackling in the air.
Damian wasted no time pointing directly at Jaden, his hand trembling with both anger and fear.
“It’s him! That bastard!” Damian spat. “First, he crippled my son! Then he beat my wife—humiliated my guards—and now, he’s trying to kill me in broad daylight!” His voice quivered as his desperation bled through his words. “Captain, I demand you destroy him! Arrest him, kill him, kill his whole damn family—”
But Damian’s rant choked off mid-sentence.
Because Captain Kelvin, the pride of the regional military, the man feared by criminals and respected by kings—froze in place.
His eyes locked onto Jaden.
And in that instant, realization struck his face like lightning.
His pupils shrank.
His jaw clenched.
A thin sheen of sweat appeared at his temple.
