Chapter 20 

The man cleared his throat and stepped forward. 

“Hey, listen, kid. You can’t just go around destroying people’s property. Be smart–pay the $2 million and kneel down to apologize. Make it easy on yourself.” 

Jaden didn’t even glance at him. His attention was still on Julie, his expression calm, almost detached. 

“Julie,” he said softly, “when you’re done here, can you take me to see Aunt? I haven’t seen her in ten years… can’t even remember what she looks like.” 

Julie’s smile faded. Her voice dropped. 

“Well… Aunt…” 

Jaden’s eyes narrowed. “What happened? Is something wrong with her?” 

“It’s hard to say. A lot happened. But she’s not doing fine.” 

Jaden gave a slow nod. “Alright. Tell me everything later.” 

The man who spoke earlier clenched his fists. “Are you deaf or just stupid?” he snapped. “We’re talking to you! You think ignoring us makes you tough?” 

He turned to Bob. “Brother Bob, he’s no rich kid from Ravenmoor. He’s just an arrogant nobody.” 

Bob didn’t waste time. “What are you standing there for?! Kill him!” 

Four of his men stepped forward instantly. One had a baton. Another, a broken pipe. The last two carried rusted machetes. All of them were twice Jaden’s size. 1 

Julie gasped and moved behind Jaden, clutching his shirt. 

“Big brother… I’m scared.” 

“Don’t be.” Jaden raised his arm slightly, shielding her. “No one’s touching you.” 

“Still wanna try?” Jaden asked flatly. 

The man screamed and rushed in. 

Jaden sidestepped him, caught his wrist, and drove a knee into his gut. As the thug doubled over, Jaden brought down a brutal chop to the back of his neck. 

He dropped like a sack of bricks. 

Silence followed. 

The crowd that had gathered stood frozen. Bob’s eyes widened in disbelief. 

All four of his men were sprawled across the ground, groaning or unconscious. Jaden hadn’t even broken a sweat. 

He turned to Julie casually. “Now… where were we.”
