I was pleasantly surprised to hear that. I waited for him to elaborate.

He exhaled. “If your theory’s right, that this is happening because the bond with two different people is pulling you into two different directions, then maybe finishing your bond with one person would stop it.”

I frowned. “Finishing? How?”

“By finishing, I mean completing. Consummating.”

My heart skipped a beat. “You mean…”

“Yes,” he said, voice low. His eyes went black, and I held my breath, realising how much even talking about it affected him. “I mark you. And if the need be, we consummate the bond.”

My throat went dry. I blinked at him, suddenly very aware of how close we were sitting on the bed. His hand was still wrapped around mine, his other brushing a strand of hair from my face. His lips were inches from mine.

“We’ve talked about this before,” he added softly. “I didn’t want to rush things, I wanted to give you time until we’d figure everything else out. But this isn’t just about wanting. you anymore. It’s about protecting you. If our bond is strong enough, whatever you are should be satisfied with just my scent
