Chapter 142 – No More
–LIA’S POV–
The forest seemed to be glowing.

I was surrounded by silence. No rustle of leaves, no song of birds, no chitter of other animals.
I stood barefoot in the grass, toes cold from dew. Trees towered above me, their branches still. In front of me, just a few feet
away, stood three wolves. Silver ones, just like the ones that I had dreamt about once before. Their gazes and demeanour were soft, gentle. They weren’t snarling. They weren’t growling. Just… watching me.
I stared back, unsure what to do. What was I even doing here? Had I sleep–walked again? Had I killed anybody?
I looked around once for dead bodies. But the forest floor was clear. Too clear.
And I was wearing my clothes. So maybe this was something else.
I shifted my attention to the wolves again.
An odd, ridiculous thought crossed my mind.
“Are you…” I hesitated. “Are you my family?”

None of them moved.

Not a blink. Not even a twitch of an ear. They just stood there like statues, still silent, still watching me.
My heart pounded in my chest, unease filling me.
“I’ve seen you before,” I whispered. “Haven’t I?”
Still no response.
The bushes rustled.
I spun around, sucking in a breath.
From the trees behind them, another wolf appeared. Darker. Moving. His eyes were scarlet.
It was Blake.
He walked slowly, shoulders heavy like he was exhausted. His head was low, but his eyes never left mine.
I backed away, a shiver crawling through me.
“Blake?” I asked, my voice cracking.
He kept walking towards me.

He released a low growl, like a warning.
I stumbled over a rock, falling on my ass.
The silver wolves still didn’t move.

“Blake, stop,” I said, breath catching. “What are you doing? Stay—stay away from me.”
I glanced around, my eyes raising to the sky.
It was not blue, but the dark shade of blood.
My mouth fell open.
Blake reached me, his large form hiding the view of the sky.
I screamed, and jolted awake.
I was in Zane’s arms, my chest heaving, skin damp with cold sweat. My head was against his shoulder, our blanket halfway on the floor.
He was already awake, blinking at me with furrowed brows. “Lia?”
My throat felt dry..
He shifted, pushing my hair away from my face. “You were dreaming again.”

I nodded slowly, trying to calm my breathing. My heart was still racing.
“What did you see?” he asked softly. “Was it… like last time? Blood moon? Wolves worshipping you?”
I shook my head, swallowing hard. “There were silver wolves.”
Zane didn’t say anything. He just waited.
“And Blake.”
Zane frowned now, concern filling his features. “Blake?”
“Yeah,” I said softly. “I felt like he was going to attack me. I was afraid of him.”
Zane’s grip around me tightened. “I will rip him apart before he touches you, Lia.”
“I know,” I replied. “And he won’t. I think.”
“Not if he wants to live.”
I pursed my lips. “Did Ajax check in? With the patrol? Was Blake home today?”
Zane blinked, realisation clearly striking him right in front of

He opened his mouth, then closed it. “Shit.”

I stared at him, heart now hammering in my chest. Could my dream have been a warning? A sign? Was Blake safe? “You forgot?” I asked.
“I was going to. I swear I was going to ask him right after detention, but I was so focused on the prom thing, it just totally slipped my mind.”
“Zane,” I said incredulously. “How can you forget?”
“I’m sorry, Lia. He’s not so important that I’d worry about him.”
I shot him a look. “Yeah, he’s not important. There’s just this tiny, stupid connection I have to him, the kind that makes me sleep walk to search for him.”
“Alright, fine. You’re right,” Zane muttered, running a hand through his hair.
“Call Ajax, please.”
He grabbed his phone off the bedside table and settled back onto the bed next to me, still holding me close. Zane’s fingers flicked. through his contacts until he found Ajax’s name.
“I’m sure everything is fine,” Zane said, dialing him.

I nodded, though my heart was still racing. I couldn’t get the image of Blake’s eyes out of my head.
Then I frowned, realising we never called Blake.
Before Ajax could pick up Zane’s phone, I reached for it.
“Wait,” I said, cancelling the call. “Can I call Blake instead? Let’s just speak to him directly.”
Zane nodded, unbothered. “Sure. If that will bring you peace.”
“Thank you.”
My fingers were shaky as I dialed Blake’s number, my heart in my mouth. It began to ring, and I held my breath, praying he’d pick up.
The phone rang a total of four times, my stomach knotting tighter and tighter with every ring.
But then the phone clicked.
A groggy, familiar voice answered. “Hello? Zane?”
I released a breath, glancing at Zane. He shrugged, mouthing ‘I told you‘.
Blake sounded half–asleep, like he’d just woken up from a long
nap.
