Mated to Two Bad Boy Alphas
Chapter 186 – The Last Night
–LIA’S POV–

Zane’s room was warm and quiet. The fire in the corner had dimmed to a soft glow, like it knew we needed peace tonight.
I sat cross–legged on the bed, one of his pillows clutched to my chest. Everything in here smelled like him—the woods after rain, fresh air, and comfort.
He walked in slowly, pulling his shirt over his head and tossing it somewhere across the room. I stared at him, eyes trailing down his toned body. Somehow, he always looked like a Greek god.
Maybe, it was fitting. With my new identity and everything.
His gaze met mine, and he narrowed his eyes, slowly closing the door.
“You want me to put it back on?” he teased, reaching for at hoodie.
“Don’t you dare,” I said.
He laughed and walked up to me, diving onto the bed beside me. and propping himself up on one elbow. For a moment, he didn’t say anything, watching me with his gentle blue eyes. Then he reached for my hand and laced our fingers together.

I took my time to drink in his features.

His dark, thick eyelashes that completely shamed mine, fluttering each time he blinked, like graceful guards to a treasure within.
The treasure itself—his eyes. Bright blue like a summer sky during the day, under sunlight, and at night, when surrounded by darkness, matching the shade of the sea under a winter storm.
His nose, the perfect size for his face. Not a centimetre too wide or too narrow. Just right.
And then his lips.
I could go on for hours about how incredible those were.
Soft. Thick. Irresistibly inviting no matter the situation or time.
“What?” he said after I was staring for longer than a minute, his voice tinged with amusement. “Where you lost, love?”
I smiled, shaking my head. “Just wondering how someone like me gets to be with someone like–”
He pressed a finger to my lips before I could finish. “Shh. That sounds like the start of a rude remark about the love of my life. We don’t tolerate that here, sorry.”

I chuckled, lowering his finger. “Who’s ‘we‘?”
“Me, my wolf, and my mother–in–law. You might want to be careful. She’s some kind of a goddess.”
I laughed now, shaking my head at him.
Then the mention of the word ‘goddess‘ had my heart sinking in my chest.
“I can’t believe this might be the last quiet night we get before…” I trailed off.
“Before it all starts,” he finished for me.
I nodded. My throat felt tight. I leaned into him and rested my head against his shoulder.
“I miss the way things were,” I said quietly. “Before all of this. Before I knew what I was. Before there were soldiers and wolves and
prophecies.”
“You mean before me?” he asked lightly.
I sat up a little to look at him. “No. Never before you.”
His expression softened.
“I just miss being normal,” I whispered.

“I don’t think you ever were, Lia,” Zane said. “Even before all this. You were always meant for more.”
“I didn’t ask for more.”
“I know. But that doesn’t mean you can’t still choose what you want it to be.”
He brushed his fingers through my hair, gently tucking it behind my ear. I leaned into his touch without thinking.
“And what do you want it to be?” I asked.
Zane’s hand stilled for a second. “Us. I want it to be us. No matter what happens.”
I swallowed. “What if I lose myself? What if this power keeps growing, and I can’t control it? What if I become something you can’t love anymore?”
“Then I’ll fight to remind you who you are. Every day. As long as I’m breathing.”
My chest squeezed painfully. I wanted to cry, but instead I crawled closer to him, curling myself against him like I could hide from everything outside this room.
His arms wrapped around me instantly.

We stayed like that for a while. Quiet. Still.
His heart thudded under my car, steady and sure.

“Do you remember the night we first kissed?” I asked after a long time.
“Of course I do.”
“You saved my life.”
He smiled. “You saved mine.”
“No, I didn’t.”
“You have no idea,” he whispered.
I stayed silent, feeling the warmth spread through me. Not the scary kind, that came with my newfound powers. The old, soft warmth that felt like home.
I turned my head to look up at him. His eyes searched mine for a moment before he leaned down and kissed me, slowly, softly. I melted into it, holding onto his shirt like it anchored me.
When we pulled apart, I pressed my forehead to his.
“I wish we had more time,” I whispered.
“We do,” he said firmly. “We’re going to survive this. We’re

going to win. And after that, there’ll be nothing stopping us.”
I didn’t answer. I just closed my eyes and held him tighter.
