Shakira’s face went pale, and Morpheus swallowed hard, clearly unsure how to respond.

They had once played the role of the perfect adoptive parents in front of Leo, pretending to be a loving and supportive family, all while whispering behind my back.

Alice, especially, had worked to turn Leo against me back then, feeding him lies that nearly ruined our relationship.

But now, with their fortunes reversed, they didn’t dare show their true colors.

“I.. we…” Shakira stammered, but Leo wasn’t interested in their excuses.

I felt a tug of sympathy, despite everything they had done.
