The Lycan King's Forbidden Craving novel Chapter 117

Chapter 117: Make me forget

For the past four days, Lylah had acted invisible in the barracks.

She simply did her work and headed back to her room. So far, he hadn’t called her. Was he still angry?

Of course he was. She had acted rashly that night, almost getting herself killed. He was bound to be angry. Perhaps. he wouldn’t train her any longer and probably would never talk to her again.

First, she didn’t receive her wolf, and now Beta Lucas was upset with her. Not just that, she had fought with Brigid.

A knock sounded on her door.

Lord Lucas summons you to the yard.

Lylah spotted Lucas sitting in the yard, arms folded. His crimson eyes averted from the dark sky and settled on her before going back to the sky again.

Good evening, my Lord,Lylah greeted as she approached

Sit,he ordered.

Lylah obeyed, looking at the sky with him. The stars sparkled like diamonds, surrounding the halfmoon as if trying to protect it.

You aren’t mad at me, are you?

Lylah paled.

I think it’s supposed to be the other way around, sir,she replied, lowering her head. I almost got myself killed because I wasn’t listening. I’m sorry.

You didn’t answer my question.

Lylah looked at him, confused.

I’m not upset, she finally replied, her voice lowered. Like I said, it was my fault.

The Grand Lord stayed silent for a while before speaking again.

You haven’t gotten your wolf.

Tears burned in Lylah’s eyes. The words hit her gut.

No.

Her whimper made Lucas look down at her. She was struggling to hold back her tears, head lowered and eyes shut.. Why are you crying?

She stifled her cry and wiped her tears with the back of her hand.

I thought I’d impress you once you came, butI don’t know, Lord Lucas. I’m restless about it.

She is not one of them,Lucas recalled Duncan’s words. He had wanted to ask Lylah out Arianna, the trait, and

  1. on.

if she knew the bloodline too, but instead, the conversation was going in another di.

This little wolf was doing a really bad job of trying to suppress her cry.

This would be the first time he would see her this way.

I clearly do not care if you have a wolf or not. As long as you remain the Lylah Greystone I know, then I’m fine with it.

But-she croaked. StillI’ve waited for this my whole life, and even though Arianna assured me it’s a rare case that my wolf is late since it’s a strong oneI still feel empty.

She’s right. You’re an alpha’s daughter after all,Lucas replied, and Lylah finally lifted her brown, teary eyes to him. My head guard got his wolf at the age of nineteen, and he’s one of the strongest among my men. That is why he is my head guard.

She stayed quiet; it seemed his words didn’t really comfort her. Well, he wasn’t good with comforting words.

He rose to his feet facing her; she looked at him, confused.

If words aren’t working, then you probably need a hug.

Lylah stared at Lucas as though he had grown a second head.

“Don’t make me change my mind,Lucas warned, and instantly Lylah bolted and slammed her body against his. Lucas froze, even though he had been the one who offered it. He clearly hadn’t expected the speed.

Thank you, Grand Handsome Lord, she muttered against his chest. This is a good consolation, she whispered.

Lucas didn’t hug her back, but he gave her enough time to gather herself. She pulled away, the moonlight illuminating her slightly red cheeks.

He stared. No words.

Thank you once again, my Lord, she bowed.

Lucas cleared his throat. Training starts tomorrow. Don’t worry about your wolf; I’m sure it will come very soon.

Yes, sir!she saluted, catching him off guard.

Don’t do that.

What?

The salute. It’s weird,he responded, and she quickly dropped her hand.

Goodnight, little wolf,he said and finally left.

Lylah stared at where he had gone, her worries completely disappearing, replaced with the repeated memory of hugging him.

Then her hand slowly reached for the left side of her chest, feeling her heart racing fast. She yanked her hand away as if it burns.

What was that strange feeling? She shook her head.

Get hold of yourself, Lylah, she muttered under her breath.

Offering her his arms to cry on. That was an unexpected move he had made.

Well, he couldn’t just sit there and watch his student that sad. He only did it to help.

Lucas sighed, quickly shifting his thoughts to something else.

He hadn’t seen or visited the king for the past three days and couldn’t help but wonder if he had been harsh that day. But he was simply telling the truth.

Lucas halted, sighting a familiar figure. His expression remained stoic as she approached.

Lady Arianna.

“Good evening, my Lord. We need to talk.

BRIGID

It flashed over and over again. Each time felt like a brutal stab in her heart.

She had seen them in the yard. The Grand Lord let her hug him. Lylah’s arms were around him. He let her!

Her pace increased; before she knew it, she was running.

She barged into her room, trying hard to catch her breath. The scene wouldn’t stop replaying, just like the night of the full moon.

Why?

Let the Grand Lord go, Brigid. You’ve lost; just find a way to move forward.

Brigid’s mind drifted to her discussion with Hilda.

Move forward? I noticed him first; why should I be the one to back down?Brigid snapped.

C’mon, Brigid. You have an Alpha chasing after you. Do you seriously want to lose your chance by chasing a man who won’t look your way?Hilda asked cooly.

I told you not to talk about that bastard again.

You mean the same bastard who sent you to the clouds under the full moon using just his fingers?Hilda leaned forward, grinning. You said it yourself, Brigid. That you had never felt that way. That male wants to bring heaven to you, and you are going to let that slip away?

Hilda continued, tone calm. Imagine being an Alpha’s woman. Aren’t you tired of being a maid?
