Chapter 198: I know the Dragon’s name

Zav swallowed hard.

Eryz clenched his jaw.

None of them had expected this to come so soon. A war between the two realms… was happening tomorrow.

“They have a much larger army than we do. Should we just find somewhere to hide?”

“No. They’ll find us. We’ve prepared for this,” Drakora said

“Not enough, Goddess…”

“We fight,” Drakora insisted, and Eryz sighed in reluctant agreement. “Gather the fighters. We need to strengthen our strategy.”

Though clearly concerned and skeptical, Zav hid his fear and nodded. “I’ll gather as many as I can find.”

He mounted a horse and rode toward the small town at the northern wing.

Lylah had heard everything, and her heart kept pounding at the thought of the war happening tomorrow.

This war was none other than Valoreth’s dofng, and she wasn’t going to just sit still and watch innocent people die because she couldn’t fulfill one task.

Reaching the cave, she stared for a long time, pacing with ragged breaths.

The burn on her leg still stung, but that was the least of her worries.

The dragon simply sat behind the crystal, watching with a low growl, making her look as though she was speaking to herself.

“Do you hear me? It’s me and you tonight! So let me in, you son of a bitch!” she shouted.

“I’m pretty sure the dragon is a girl.”

Lylah snapped her head around, only to see Rheal standing with Cal beside him.

“Wh—what are you boys doing here?” She stammered. “Go back–it’s dangerous. How long have you been standing there?” She’d shrink from embarrassment if Rheal had heard all her curse words.

Of course he did.

“I saw you sneaking out instead of resting, and I asked Cal to bring me here,” Rheal shrugged cutely.

“Cal?” Lylah raised a brow.

“He threatened me,” Cal pointed at Rheal. “I had no choice. Rheal can be scary sometimes.”

“Take him back,” she said, but as Cal met Rheal’s gaze, he shook his head at Lylah.

“Sorry. I can’t.”

Lylah looked at Rheal.

“I want to stay. You’re determined to wake my mom, and I really want to see that happen.” he blinked adorably with a tiny smile.

*He’s manipulating you,* Nyx chimed in.

*Well, I am manipulated,* Lylah replied.

“Just stay behind me, okay?” she sighed, giving in. The boys nodded.

Lylah recalled something.

“One more thing, Rheal. Don’t be mad… about what happened. The dragon hurt me, not your mom, okay?”

Rheal scowled. “I’m not mad at Mom. I’m mad at those who made her like this.”

Lylah froze. The words hit her, and she couldn’t help but ruffle the boy’s hair and crouch to kiss his forehead.

Worry flashed in Rheal’s eyes, but he nodded, watching as Lylah stepped toward the threshold again.

“Why is it hurting people?” Rheal asked curiously.

“It’s scared,” Lylah replied.

She had noticed it when she’d rushed in without thinking.

The dragon was protecting Arianna, sensing the pain she’d already been through and wouldn’t let anyone near.

“It’s not trying to hurt people. It’s acting on Arianna’s emotions,” Lylah explained.

Rheal watched quietly while Cal’s eyes darted around, hoping no one else would see them.

“Grandmother told me not to cross the line,” Rheal murmured. “But I’m curious.”

“Don’t.”

“I won’t. I already promised Grandma, and I don’t wish to know what’ll happen if I do,” Rheal replied.

“Good boy,” Lylah said, then sighed. “Aria’s wolf wasn’t like this…”

Her eyes slowly widened as a thought hit her.

“Can we please go back now, Rheal?” Cal panicked. “My mom’s going to kill me if she finds out I brought you here in the middle of the night.”

Rheal looked at him and hushed Cal by placing a finger on his lips.

“I know her name,” Lylah muttered under her breath, then walked to stand just before the line.

She took a deep breath, praying to the heavens this would work.

“Hey, Lily!” she shouted, and the dragon, who had been slumbering, opened its large eyes wide.

Arianna had once mentioned how she hadn’t seen her inner wolf, Lily, in a long time but only the dragon that terrified her.
