With that, they both exited the Citadel to make further preparations.

He needed rest, but the thought of facing another nightmare wouldn’t let him shut his eyes.

Sucking in a deep breath, Valoreth burst into his room, only to exhale shakily when he saw his twin daughters already waiting for him.

“That bastard,” Valoreth spat, then laughed bitterly. “Was he the one who brought you here? To distract me?”

Aurexia scoffed, eyes wide with disbelief.

“I would never hurt your mother. You know that. You know I loved her, girls. I loved Mearina so much. Just as I love you two.”

Thalira shook her head. “And yet you want us to marry the mad king against our will?”
