Chapter 71: The Grand festival
GRAND FESTIVAL
Once every decade, this festival brings Alphas, Lunas, and a few high–ranking nobles across the realm together. They will all stay in the Citedal until the festival is over.
First is the Moonlit Ceremony, held at the peak of Black Moon Mountain. Only selected individuals the Lycan King, Alphas, High Priestesses, and warriors–are allowed to make the ascent.
Others remain at the base.
Under the night sky, they’ll honor the Moon Goddess, performing sacred rituals and swearing their loyalty beneath the open sky. Prophecies will be spoken by the High Seer Evelora.
The ceremony lasts five to six hours, after which a small celebration follows. Then, they await the Royal Banquet which will happen two days after.
This grand event will be held in the palace’s extravagant hall, where everyone will be adorned in fine attire. Important announcements will be made…
Such as whether the King will crown his Luna–or not.
That is what most of them are waiting for. Especially the Venis family.
After the banquet, there will be the Combat Trial and the Masked Ball. Each with two days in space.
AMBASSADOR WING
“Ahhh!!”
A loud, high–pitched scream tore from Nadia’s lips as the sharp–edged whip struck her already bleeding back.
Before she could recover from the pain, another lash tore into her battered skin, her lips parting in a silent scream as though she had lost her voice.
Across the room, Toran sat with his head propped against one hand, watching as two men whipped Nadia, not giving her a moment to breathe.
Once he was satisfied, he raised a single finger–a silent command to stop.
The men untied Nadia’s hands, and she collapsed to the floor, her breathing ragged. Toran dismissed them before setting his sharp, angry gaze on her. A smirk curled his lips as he savored her tears and agony.
“Get up and come here, sweetheart,” he ordered.
Nadia forced herself to rise, knowing how ruthless he could be if she took too long to obey
Reaching him, she shivered terribly, blood dripping down her naked body. The agony was unbearable, and she fought to stay
conscious.
“You’re not obedient, are you?” Toran murmured. “I thought that now that I am an Alpha, you, my sweet, ugly slave, would give me a gift–by doing a good job on the assignment I gave you.”
Nadia bowed her head, biting her lip, suppressing her cries.
“Aren’t you such an incompetent, ugly slave?” His fingers drummed against the armrest of his chair.
When she remained silent, he suddenly reached out, jerking her toward him, his hand tightening around her neck.
“What did I tell you about answering my fucking questions?” Toran asked, his voice dangerously low.

“I’m sorry, Master,” Nadia sobbed shaking uncontrollably.
Toran sighed, then dragged her up and threw her onto the bed.
Shrugging off his robe, he stood over her his arousal evident. His c0¢k stood erected.
Nadia trembled in fear, tears damping her face as she cried. “Please… don’t.”
He ignored her plea and flipped her over, digging his claws into her back to hold her still on the bed, her blood soaking the sheets.
Nadia scre@med hard, jerking violently at his first thrust. Her head spun, pain sh00t!ng through her syst3m. He kept sl@mming into her from behind–violently, relentlessly.
Her cries slowly faded as her strength drained, her vision blurring her nerves dulling. But he didn’t stop until she went completely still, unconscious beneath him.
Toran pulled out, releasing the girl. His hand reached out to push her damp hair aside, revealing her weak, vulnerable face. A cruel smile spread across his lips.
“Thank you, Nadia,” he whispered to the unconscious woman on his bed.
After a while, Toran dressed in fine attire and stepped out, and heading to the quiet corridor where his father and sister were waiting.
Other Alphas are already making way toward the peak of Black Moon Mountain for the ceremony.
“Father,” Toran greeted Magnus small bow before turning to his sister beside him. He took her hand, pressing a soft kiss to the back of it. “Our dear future Luna.”
Valkyrie forced a smile before pulling her hand away. “Congratulations brother, I hope the pack florish at your realm. Sorry it’s coming late.”
“Need not to worry, Your Highness. I am not upset. I just hope we can celebrate properly later.”
Valkyrie inhaled sharply. “We’ll be late. The ceremony is about to start.” She turned to leave them.
“How is it going, Father?” Toran asked Magnus in a hushed voice in a hushed voice.
“The necessary guards have been taken care of. The ones hired are professionals–I paid them a fortune. They wouldn’t dare make a mistake. As for her, she will not live to see another day.”
“We can’t be quite sure, Father. She seems to have an uncanny luck when it comes to escaping death,” Toran said.
“Not this time, son. Tonight will be her last night.”
With that, they both left, joining the other Alphas.
Selene, hidden at the end of the corridor, listened as their footsteps faded. Silently, she rose from her hiding spot and walked in the opposite direction.
“What do you mean I should go in your stead? Only the head maid is allowed to attend the ceremony,” Brigid said, watching Selene light a hand lamp.
“You’ll take my place tonight. And if anyone asks for me, simply tell them I am unwell.”
Brigid’s lips parted in disbelief. “You don’t look sick or unwell. Besides, this might get me into trouble.”
“Do you not want a chance with Lord Lucas? The man must be free tonight–you can see him for as long as you want.”
Those words worked on Brigid, but she still squinted suspiciously. What are you up to?”
“None of your business. Now run along, child,” Selene said.
