Sage
My mind catalogs everything we've discovered as we return to the packhouse – formulas, experiments, evidence of a conspiracy extending generations. Since the poison transformed my abilities, information organizes itself with crystal clarity, connections forming automatically between seemingly disparate details.
"She hasn't spoken in hours," I hear Garrett murmur to Alaric. "Is she—"
"Processing," Alaric replies, his confidence flowing through our bond. "Let her work."
His faith in me warms something deep inside, even as I continue sorting through the mental library I've built. Names surface in connection with experimental protocols – council members, noble houses, wolves who have opposed us from the beginning.
The packhouse comes into view, Helena and Iris waiting anxiously at the gates. Through our bond, I feel Alaric's relief at seeing them safe, his lingering fear that our enemies might have moved against his family while we were gone.
"You're back." Iris rushes forward, her usual composure cracking with worry. "We heard rumors—"
"Inside," Alaric cuts her off gently. "What we've discovered can't be discussed where others might hear."
In his private study, our small circle of trust gathers – Helena, Iris, Garrett, and a few warriors Alaric trusts implicitly. I watch him pace as he recounts what we found in Blackthorn territory, the horror of it still fresh.
"Mutants engineered specifically to hunt healing abilities," he concludes. "A conspiracy extending to council level to eradicate wolves like Sage."
Helena's face pales with every word. "The laws about royal mates..."
"Created after the healing packs were purged," I confirm, finally breaking my silence. "Part of a systematic effort to prevent healing abilities from gaining political power."
I close my eyes, drawing forth the names I've connected to incriminating evidence. "Lord Harrison's family led the original purge, according to records in the lab. Victoria's father's ancestors wrote the laws restricting healing bloodlines. At least three current council elders have direct ties to facilities like the one we found."
Through our bond, Alaric's rage builds with each name, but he controls it masterfully. "The emergency council session is in three days. That's our opportunity to expose this."
