Axel’s brows furrowed. "Go on."
"She’s a classic manipulator. However, you won’t find a single scandal associated with her name..."
Collins took a deep sigh before continuing, "Nevertheless, trust me, she’s dangerous. Men fall for her, and she uses them for her own gain. The victims are mostly younger ones."
Hearing that was enough to pique Axel’s curiosity.
"Younger ones?" he asked.
"Yeah. College kids, interns, even athletes. She plays sugar mommy for them," Collins said bluntly.
A chuckle escaped Axel’s lips. "She did such a thing?"
Collins laughed on the other end.
"Boss, she’s like a shady Santa... buys them gifts, sponsors their dreams, then mysteriously vanishes when she gets bored or eyes new targets. But hey, she’s a pro at the secrecy game. No photos, no proof, not even a suspicious shadow in the background."
"She is indeed a troublemaker. How did she manage to silence them all?"
"Well, most of the boys she plays with don’t talk. Some of them receive money, while others are forced into silence. She knows exactly who to target... those who can be bought or won’t fight back when she has something on them. But what’s strange is how quickly she switches her attention when she doesn’t get what she wants."
"And what does she want now?" Axel’s tone turned colder.
"That’s the thing," Collins replied. "Rumor says she’s been trying to get close to big names recently. CEOs, investors... the kind of people who can boost her image. Maybe she thought you’d be her next trophy."
"Then, if she realized I’m married..." Axel said dryly.
"Probably. And judging from how possessive she gets, your wife might’ve made her jealous just by existing." Collins said carefully.
There was silence for a few seconds.
Axel’s eyes focused on the closed door of his office, and his expression softened as his thoughts turned to Evelyn. She was probably still in the bathroom, humming softly while brushing her hair.
For a brief moment, he forgot about the looming threat to his wife. But in the next instant, the tension returned to his eyes. 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚
"Collins, that woman was unaware that Evelyn is my wife. However, at the charity dinner, she saw me sitting with Evelyn... and then she tried to target her."
"What? Wait, you’re going to the charity gala?" Collins’ voice turned surprised. "Boss, I thought you didn’t plan to attend it."
Axel was left speechless upon hearing his overwhelmingly shocked response. "Where have you been, Collins?" he asked.
It’s hard for Axel to believe his hacker didn’t even know his name, and Evelyn has now become a trending topic online.
"Boss, I’ve been coding since noon and haven’t checked anything outside." Collins’ voice slowly faded; now only the sound of a keyboard echoes from the phone speaker.
A heavy sigh echoed through the room as he looked at the watch.
"Alright, keep everything quiet," Axel instructed. "If that woman tries to approach Evelyn again, I want to know before it happens."
"Got it. But boss, you should know... Natalie doesn’t take rejection well. If she really feels humiliated, she might try to stir something up."
"She can try," Axel replied coolly. "Just make sure she doesn’t get close enough to regret it."
Collins chuckled under his breath. "Copy that. I’ll have my team start tonight."
When the call ended, Axel sat quietly for a moment, the soft ticking of the clock filling the silence.
His fingers tapped lightly against the armchair as he stared into the dim glow of his office.
He didn’t believe in coincidences, especially not when they involved his wife.
It didn’t take long.
A faint sound caught his attention, soft footsteps from outside.
