"YOU!" He slammed his hand on the table. "You think this is funny?"
Evelyn smiled, completely unbothered, as she watched how furious he had become.
"A little. You do realize how ridiculous this sounds, right? You used your wife and daughter as bait just to make me sign some papers."
William Walters clenched his hand tightly, trying to keep his blood pressure at a safe level.
"Mr. Walters, you could have sent an email." She said calmly.
The vein on William’s forehead looked even more apparent, as if ready to explode.
"Do not mock me, Evelyn!" he snapped.
Evelyn chuckled softly, acting innocent.
"I’m not mocking you. I’m genuinely impressed. You’ve reached a new level of audacity. If there’s a World Cup for terrible fathers, trust me, you’d win gold."
Alicia gasped softly.
Stella looked like she might faint.
Lisa, who was still near the wall, covered her mouth to hide a grin.
The bodyguard, who had earlier appeared like a grim reaper, suddenly stifled their laugh.
While William Walters?
Oh, he almost had a heart attack.
His knuckles turned white as he clenched his fists.
His eyes looked red as he coldly said, "You have no idea what you’re getting yourself into. That company belongs to me, not you."
"Oh, really?" Evelyn raised an eyebrow. "Then perhaps you shouldn’t have signed over your shares while you were busy impressing your mistress with luxury handbags."
William stood abruptly, his fury radiating across the room.
"You ungrateful child! Everything you have comes from me!"
Evelyn rose too, slowly and deliberately, meeting his glare without flinching.
Her voice dropped to a quiet, deadly calm. "No, Mr. Walters! Everything I have now is because you threw me out. Banished me from your house, and as your daughter. And I rebuilt everything myself without you. Did you forget you forced me to sign anything your stupid lawyer gave me?"
For a moment, William actually looked speechless.
Evelyn glanced at the papers on the table and smirked.
"You want me to withdraw the lawsuit against your beloved mistress? That’s not happening. And as for reinstating you as CEO?"
She paused, pretending to think. 𝐟𝐫𝕖𝗲𝘄𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝕧𝐞𝚕.𝕔𝕠𝐦
"That would require me to believe you can run a company without accidentally setting it on fire and bringing it to the ground, crashing."
William’s voice trembled with rage. "You think you can defy me and walk out of here unharmed?"
Evelyn leaned slightly forward. "Try stopping me."
The bald bodyguard took a hesitant step forward, but Lisa’s sharp gaze pinned him in place.
The tension snapped through the room like calm before a storm.
Evelyn smirked, her eyes locked on her father’s.
"You wanted me here, and now you’ve got me. But next time, try calling like a civilized person. Using hostages is so... out of date!"
