The Mischievous Doctor (Finnegan and Nuthana) novel Chapter 443

Wandering Knight, a loner, unaffiliated with any faction and not a follower.

Ruff Gibbs was known for his willingness to undertake any task, provided the price was right.

Interestingly, much of his earnings were channeled into charitable causes, such as building infrastructure and aiding impoverished communities, earning him the moniker of the Wandering Knight.

Since returning to Jadeborough, Finnegan had heard about this mysterious figure's tale. However, he was curious when Hailey recognized him instantly. “Have you met him before?” he inquired.

Hailey nodded, her expression complex, “Two years ago, someone paid ten million for Wandering Knight to give Liam a thorough lesson.”

Finnegan couldn't help but smile at this revelation, “I never imagined Liam once felt so cornered.”

Turning his attention to the approaching Ruff, dressed in splendid attire and carrying a carefree smile, Finnegan queried, “It seems someone has hired you to deal with me, but you don't take on murder assignments, do you?”

Ruff, grinning slyly and flashing a set of pristine white teeth, clarified, “Indeed, I don't engage in assassination. My task is simply to knock you down for a fifty-million reward.”

He casually flaunted his limited-edition, million-worth Rolex, adding, “This will allow me to splurge on custom suits and luxury watches.”

Hearing this, Finnegan eyed the stern-faced men in black and asked, “So, you're tasked with taking me down, and they'll finish the job?”

Ruff shook his head. “My job is just to knock you down. Fifty million for success, ten million even if I fail.”

Finnegan, contemplating the situation, suggested, “In that case, shall we have a discussion?”

Ruff's interest was piqued as he inquired with a hint of curiosity, “And what might we be discussing?”

Finnegan's lips curled into a sly smirk, his eyes flickering with a chilling murderous intent. He posed a strategic question, “Your sole objective was to knock me down, wasn't it? As long as you've made an attempt, the timing of it doesn't really matter, does it?”

Ruff nodded in agreement, his expression serious. “That's correct, the contract didn't specify any particular timing for the action.”

Finnegan, seizing this opportunity, suggested, “Would you consider waiting until after I've handled all these people here before you make your move?”

This proposal visibly altered the expressions of the dozen or so men clad in black, indicating their sudden unease.

“Indeed, I could wait, but why should I adhere to your request?” Ruff replied with a smirk.

Without missing a beat, Finnegan instructed Hailey, “Transfer one million to our friend here, Mr. Wandering Knight, as a fee for postponing his attack on me by five minutes.”

The leader of the men in black, sensing the shift in dynamics, protested, “Mr. Wandering Knight, you mustn't agree to this.”

This leader, before arriving on the scene, had heard tales of Finnegan's might. It was likely he was an Enigma Realm expert of Absolute Rank in his cultivation.

If Ruff were to delay his attack, they would stand little chance against Finnegan, especially since they were only there to take advantage of Finnegan's supposed weakened state.

Ruff, however, seemed enticed by the offer, greed lighting up his eyes. “Delaying my attack for a million? Sounds like a lucrative deal. Let's proceed with the transfer.”

The leader of the masked men turned pale, realizing the gravity of the situation, “Move out!”

Without Ruff's intervention, staying any longer posed a significant risk.

Finnegan chuckled coldly, relishing the opportunity to unleash his pent-up anger. “I haven't been able to vent my anger. It's great that you men are here!”

With a forceful kick, he sent Lauren sprawling to the side. In a blur of motion, he darted through the group of men in black, swiftly positioning himself in front of them.

With an expert move, he seized one of the men by the face, and with a swift, precise motion, the man fell to the ground, lifeless, his eyes still wide open in shock.

The leader shouted in panic, “Get him!”

But Finnegan was already in motion. He leaped high, his right leg extending in a powerful, shadowless kick.

Six of the men in black were rendered defenseless, each sent flying by the force of his kicks, their bones shattering upon impact.

Another man's shoulder bone crumbled under Finnegan's fierce backhand, causing him to scream in agony.

Finnegan, unfazed and smiling, acknowledged Ruff's honorable nature, “I'm well aware of your principles. Even under duress, you wouldn't betray your code. It's not in my nature to subject a noble warrior to needless torment.”

Ruff, hearing Finnegan's words, couldn't help but scoff lightly, a hint of amusement in his tone. “You speak as though you've already won. Be mindful, I am not to be underestimated.”

The smile that had been playing on his lips faded, replaced by a steely determination.

Suddenly, a powerful surge of energy emanated from him, so potent that even the nearby table trembled ever so slightly under the weight of this invisible force.

Finnegan observed this display with a raised eyebrow, his expression one of mild amusement. “Impressive. You're just a step away from reaching Terra Realm. Quite remarkable indeed.”

Ruff's gaze sharpened, his eyes narrowing, “Certainly, it's a notable achievement.”

In the blink of an eye, Ruff closed the distance between them, his movement so swift it was nearly imperceptible.

He launched a powerful punch aimed directly at Finnegan's face.

However, in a startling display of agility and skill, Finnegan vanished from Ruff's line of sight, evading the attack with such ease that it seemed as though he had never been there.

The punch landed on nothing but air.

Ruff's eyes widened in shock, and he quickly spun around, only to discover Finnegan standing calmly a few meters away. “I was under the impression you were at the Absolute Rank of Enigma Realm,” Ruff queried, his tone laced with surprise and a hint of newfound respect.

Finnegan casually touched his nose, a slight smirk on his face. “That's merely what others have assumed about me. I've never personally claimed to be limited to the Absolute Rank of Enigma Realm.”

The realization that Finnegan's abilities were far greater than he had anticipated dawned on Ruff, a serious expression flickering in his eyes. “It appears that the sum of fifty million, formidable as it is, doesn't quite encapsulate the challenge you present.”

Finnegan, now standing relaxed yet poised, issued a challenge to Ruff, “Show me the full extent of your strength. If you can withstand a single punch from me without falling, you're free to leave unharmed tonight. But if you fail, you'll owe me a favor in the future. What's your response to that?”

Ruff, his expression turning into a frown, retorted with a hint of disdain, “I have no interest in men. I prefer the vixen beside you and the one on the ground.”
