The Mischievous Doctor (Finnegan and Nuthana) novel Chapter 8

Joel's heart skipped a beat. If he failed to satisfy the Zimmerman family, he wouldn't be able to leave Jadeborough, or worse, his medical career might be ruined.

“My entire net worth is only three million. I can't possibly come up with a hundred million...”

Left with no choice, he could only look at Finnegan beseechingly.

Finnegan hadn't really planned on squeezing a hundred million out of the other party, so he waved his hand dismissively and said, “Forget about the money, but don't forget your promise.”

“Don't worry. I will apologize to you tomorrow through all the major well-known media outlets across the country.”

With that, he left the hospital, looking rather dejected.

Patrick presented the check of ten million that he had prepared in advance to Finnegan.

Finnegan had come to Bernice's rescue due to her kind-hearted nature. He did not accept the check. “Never mind the money. I will now write two prescriptions for you. One is for Ms. Zimmerman, and you can bring the other to me once it's prepared.”

Patrick was somewhat surprised that Finnegan didn't want money. However, in his eyes, Finnegan had already become a respected figure, so he simply nodded.

After writing down two prescriptions and handing them to Patrick, Finnegan was planning to leave when Alexander called out to him.

“Mr. Larkin, would you be interested in practicing at General Hospital? I can make the arrangement for you.”

I can see that Finnegan's skills extend far beyond this. It would be nice if he could practice here at General Hospital.

Finnegan headed straight for the door, saying, “I'm not interested. Mr. Zimmerman, have someone deliver the items to me once they're ready. The address is on the prescription.”

No sooner had he left than Bernice, having changed into a fresh set of clothes, rushed out.

“Dad, where is Finnegan?”

Seeing her daughter's anxious expression, the cheerful Patrick thought back to when Bernice had just scolded Finnegan for being a pervert. He quickly came to Finnegan's defense. “I'm not sure what happened just now, but you shouldn't hold it against him. He treated you, after all.”

Bernice chuckled bitterly. “Dad, it's not about that.”

“Then why are you looking for him?”

“His name is also Finnegan. He could be the one who saved me five years ago. He has returned.”

“When one is impoverished, even city dwelling offers no attention, yet when one is wealthy, visitors abound even in mountainous seclusion. If you don't believe me, observe the dining table where each toast is primarily dedicated to the affluent...”

Raymond had expressed their unavailability due to an evening visit to their in-laws. Meanwhile, it was Adrian's wife, Melinda Cork, who had responded to the call. She had candidly asserted that Quiana was merely seeking a pretext to solicit funds before abruptly ending the call.

Upon comparing the demeanor of his relatives from the past to their current behavior, Desmond was engulfed in a profound sense of melancholy.

Finnegan felt a pang of guilt in his heart. He squatted down, taking Desmond's hand in his own, and said, “Dad, if it weren't for me, our home wouldn't have ended up like this. Now that I'm back, I'll make sure you all have a good life. I'll make those relatives who despise the poor and love the rich regret their actions!”

Rhiannon chimed in, “Yes, now that Finn is back, our family will surely regain its former glory. When those uncles of ours show up at our door again, just watch how I'll humiliate them.”

The words of his children brought considerable comfort to Desmond. “You two silly kids, as long as you're doing well, each of you establishing your own families and careers, those relatives don't matter much. Just let them be.”

Finnegan could tell that this wasn't how Desmond truly felt.

However, he didn't point it out. “Dad, I've bought some medicinal herbs. Let's treat your broken bones and damaged meridians first. Once the rest of the herbs arrive, I'll need at most a month—”

“Kid, come out!”

Just as Finnegan was about to offer words of comfort, Python, his mouth still swollen and his head wrapped in gauze, burst in with more than a dozen men. Outside, there stood another thirty to forty individuals, each armed with long swords and iron rods.
