The whole room was buzzing, everyone caught up in the excitement, all guessing who would end up with the ultimate prize. Most people figured it would go to one of the mysterious VIPs on the second floor.

Inside one of those VIP suites, Roger was flipping through the diamond’s details, a hint of a smile playing on his lips. He was clearly pleased. The price would be sky-high, but he doubted anyone else would actually shell out that kind of money for a single stone. He had already made up his mind. This diamond was as good as his.

In another suite, Patricia had her glasses on and a magnifying glass in hand as she leaned in, studying the diamond on the screen. She couldn’t hide her excitement. “This is really something,” she said. “The diamond is flawless. The color’s beautiful. It would look incredible on Charlotte.”

Anne smiled and nodded. “I’ve lived a long time, but I’ve never seen anything this stunning.”

“Right?” Patricia couldn’t stop smiling, her excitement totally obvious. “Anne, did you bring enough money?”

“I brought every card you own,” Anne replied with a helpless laugh. It was a little wild, honestly. Patricia had never even met Charlotte face to face, but she was ready to spend her whole fortune just to buy her this diamond. If that wasn’t real affection, nothing was.

Meanwhile, in another room, Charlotte was sprawled out on the sofa, looking completely at ease. When the host started introducing the diamond, she slowly lifted her head and glanced toward the stage. She stared at the diamond for a few long seconds.

Anthony noticed and gave her hand a gentle squeeze, the corners of his mouth lifting. “Do you like it?”

Charlotte pursed her lips, looking thoughtful but not overly impressed. “It’s alright. Looks better than the last ones.”

“Alright,” Anthony said softly, his fingers tightening around hers. His eyes were warm and a little possessive. “If you want it, I’ll buy it for you to play with.”
