Anthony kept one hand on the steering wheel, sneaking a glance at Charlotte sitting next to him. His lips curled into a smile that was equal parts helpless and affectionate. He didn’t say anything, just picked up his phone and forwarded a few photos of the homework to Andrew. The message was short and to the point. “Bring this back to me for review tomorrow morning.”

On the other end, Andrew was completely baffled. “???” Seriously? Where did this come from?

“Feeling better now?” Anthony reached over and gently held Charlotte’s hand. His deep voice was warm, laced with a quiet laugh that made it obvious how much he doted on her.

Charlotte tilted her chin, her expression sincere. “I'd be even happier if you gave him another beating.”

“Okay.”

Anthony agreed without a second thought and Charlotte’s eyes softened, a small laugh shining through as she smiled.

The last three exams were all scheduled for the same day. Charlotte sipped her milk as she walked through the school gates and, just her luck, ran right into Andrew, who looked like he hadn’t slept in a week. The dark circles under his eyes almost made him look cute.

That sight instantly put Charlotte in a great mood.

Andrew spotted her from across the yard. He froze for a heartbeat, then rushed over and bowed deeply, looking completely defeated.

“Charlotte, I know I messed up. I swear I’ll never tattle to Anthony again. Please, just ask him to let me off the hook.”

“I don’t think he will,” Charlotte replied, taking another sip and blinking at him with innocent eyes.

“Why not?” Andrew still hadn’t caught up.

“Because I made him do homework all night. He’s still holding a grudge. There’s no way he’s going to let you off that easy.”

Charlotte finished her milk, glanced around for a trash can, didn’t see one, and just handed the empty carton to Andrew. She raised her brows, giving him a cheeky grin. “Throw this out for me, okay? Thanks.”

And then she just walked off toward the exam hall, leaving Andrew standing there in shock.
