Timbre was a legend in the voice acting world, famous in ways most people could only dream of.
But Charlotte? She was just eighteen, still a student at Vanguard High School. How could they possibly be the same person?
“You…” Emily started, her voice trailing off as she hugged the gift she’d brought. She looked completely taken aback.
Charlotte stood in front of her, wearing a plain white tee, her school jacket draped casually over one arm. Her long hair flowed down her shoulders and there was a soft, easy smile on her lips. She was striking, almost impossible not to stare at.
“I heard you wanted to see me?”
Emily nodded, her lashes trembling as she tried to find her words. Her cheeks flushed pink. She asked in a small voice, “Charlotte, are you… Timbre?”
Charlotte nodded. Her eyes stayed locked on Emily’s stunned face. Then, she shifted her tone, making her voice ring out clear and bright. “I’m Timbre.”
Emily’s mouth dropped open. She was a super fan—she’d watched every show, every movie Timbre had ever voiced, sometimes more than once. She knew that voice anywhere. As soon as Charlotte spoke, Emily gasped, excitement bubbling up before she could stop it.
“It really is you! You’re Timbre!”
All this time, and they’d already met a few times before.
“Charlotte, I love your work so much. Please, come in and sit down.”
Snapping out of her daze, Emily hurried to pull Charlotte into the lounge. She handed over the gift, suddenly shy. “This is for you. I hope you like it.”
Charlotte sat on the sofa and opened the box. Inside was a gorgeous, clearly expensive microphone. She looked up, a real smile lighting her face. “I love it. Thank you.”
“You’re welcome.” Emily stood there, trying to look composed, but her eyes kept sneaking glances at Charlotte. Even though Charlotte was three years younger, she had this strong presence. It was the same feeling Emily got around Anthony—almost overwhelming.
