The Only One Series novel Chapter 12

Falcon stood up yelling at Gunner. You really are a son of a bitch, aren't you? Lana runs to you hugging you, telling you she loves you and she doesn't know how not to and you just stand there? You don't hug her back. She did not reject you. What the hell is wrong with you? She loves you, she wants you. She doesn't care about your fucking scar.

Laura said I'm going to go check on Lana. Tara said I will go with you. We watched as they walked out of the clubhouse door. Falcon said you deserve this Gunner and he punched him in the face. As the girls got to Lana's door they knocked and knocked. Laura said this is not good. She got the extra key from under the flower pot and they walked in yelling for Lana.

She didn't answer the girls. There was a light on in her bedroom so they opened the door and saw Lana on the floor with her wrist cut. Shit, Laura said running to the bathroom she grabbed a towel and screamed to get doc. Why did you do this Lana. Lana was barely breathing. Tara ran into the clubhouse screaming for doc.

What he said. Come quick, Lana cut her wrists and there is blood everywhere. Doc grabbed his bag and ran across the street followed by Hawk, Falcon, Tara, and Gunner. Gunner was yelling no, no, no. He can't lose her. Why would she do this? They were right. He was a dumb ass. He should have held her, he should have followed her when she ran out.

As they ran into Lana's bedroom they saw Laura had pressure on the wound. Hawk lifted her off the floor and laid her on the bed. He stitched her wrist and said looking at Gunner. So your the man she loves and decided to kill herself over. I can't figure you, young people, out. If you love her tell her. Don't keep running from her.

He said someone will need to stay with her. I will Gunner said. They all left the room and Gunner took off his jeans and shirt and climbed into bed with Lana. He gathered her into his arms and sighed. She didn't run from me because of my face. She ran because she thought I had stopped loving her. I didn't. I love her more than anything.

I will never leave her again. Not if she will have me. I held her as I fell asleep. I woke up to the feeling that I was being stared at. I felt a finger go down my scar and to my lips. Then I felt myself being kissed. I slowly opened my eyes and looked at Lana leaning over me.

She said. You are real. I am not dreaming. You are here, in my bed. Why did you not come home? Why did you stay away? I love you, Gunner. I looked at her and asked. You still love me even though I have this scar running down my face? I would still love you if you lost an arm or leg. Don't you know that?

I was scared, I said. Scared that you would reject me, Lana. Gunner, do you still love me? I love you more than anything. Then why did you not come home to me? Did you really think because you have a scar on your face I would turn you away? I didn't know. I couldn't face you, I was scared. I'll show you she said.

If neither of you has her then you tell me who does? We don't know. Gunner ran his hands through his hair saying. We made love this morning, she was happy that I was back. She didn't care about my scar and now she is gone. I want her back. Hold on man we will find her.

I sat in the corner where I always sit and no one bothered me. I was grinning. They did not know that I was Lana's foster brother. When I told my brothers about what she had been going through they wanted to take her and bring her home four years ago. I said no. I said Gunner needs to learn what it is like to yearn for her.

Laughing I told them. We just have to sit back and watch what happens. Bid our time. Granted Lana fought me and we had to give her a shot to knock her out so she didn't wake Gunner up but now she is home and Gunner will suffer and know just what she had been going through. Granted I am not as cruel as he has been. We won't keep her away for five years.

Now it will be interesting to see how he manages without her. Especially after he finally held her in his arms and made love to her. Took her virginity, something he could have done five years ago. That is if he would have just come home after the war.
