The Only One Series novel Chapter 25

I had just finished washing my dishes and putting them away when I heard my cell phone ring. I closed the cupboard door and picked it up. "Hello" this is Diamond Leigh. What's up Diamond? Hey, we are having a cookout at the beach would you like to join us? I'm sorry Diamond but I can't. I made plans to go out of town. I won't be back until Sunday. Besides, I don't do well with parties. Maybe next time? We will see Diamond. Alright, you have a good weekend I don't know that it is going to be a good weekend I said laughing.

I will be bringing more of my things back. Some living room and kitchen items. I may have a few of my friends come with me to carry the stuff in. But I hope that you and animal have a good time. Laughing I said. "I will call you when I get back." I hung up the phone and then called Animal. Honey, she said no. I will discuss it when I get there. I am about to pull into the compound. Alright, see you when you get here. I pulled into the compound and shut off my car. I got out grabbed my purse and walked into the club.

As I walked in I saw Animal sitting at the table with Gunner. I walked towards them and asked a prospect to grab me a cup of coffee as I sat down. Well, she said she was going out of town this weekend and that she does not do well with parties. I don't think she wants to be around the club members. Well, I think we should still have a cookout. The kids will love swimming. I think it is a good idea. Since Leigh arrived in town everyone seems to be on edge. Is it because they miss Lana? Animal said, "Lana never lived here.", "She has never even been here to the club and they do not know her."

I said confused. Then why is everyone watching you as you will explode at anytime Gunner? I would really rather not talk about it. Ok, no problem. Then I saw Donna walking toward us. Diamond how are you doing? I'm good I said getting up and taking my coffee from the prospect thanking him. I am going out back to sit and enjoy the peace and quiet I said. I had been sitting in a rocking chair gently rocking back and forth just enjoying the cool breeze and thinking. I did not notice that Donna had come outside and was sitting next to me.

I heard "you are wondering what the hell is going on since Leigh came to town." I am. Everyone, well not everyone but a lot of people keeps thinking she is the twin's mother Lana. I am so confused. What is it that has some people in town stirred up? I heard Donna sigh and say. Lana dated Gunner throughout high school and they got engaged before he went into the army. She would send Gunner and three of his buddies packages weekly. Gunner was hurt in the war. The scar on his face. After the war, he did not come home and claim Lana and marry her.

So a lot of shit happened which caused her to lose weight, not eat, and then she got hit by a car, kidnapped by his army buddies and one day Gunner went to our home town. They spent one night together and she got pregnant. Another of his buddies took her from him because he thought Gunner needed to suffer as Lana did. No, he never bothered to look for her or demand they give her back. He didn't know she was pregnant. She ended up losing a lot of blood and went into a coma the day she gave birth. So if she did come out of the coma the shock, her depression, and pain may have caused her brain to forget her past. Maybe Donna said.

I was sitting in a lawn chair staring at the fire. We still had the cookout even though she did not come. Diamond asked what I was thinking about? Leigh. I can't figure out why she won't interact with the club or myself. It is like she hates my guts. Like she doesn't want to be around me or get to know me. My mind and body tells me she is my Lana. But, she doesn't show any recognition it is as if I am a stranger to her.

If she is Lana maybe she did wake up and her mind doesn't want to remember me. But what about our children. Why would she forget them? I am so confused that I can't even think straight. I just know somehow that I caused all of this. I looked up and saw Diamond looking at me. Then she said, "Gunner if you really want to know if she is Lana why don't you go to Falcon's and find out if it is her or not?" That way you can put your mind at ease. If Lana has woken up and her mind has chosen to forget you and the kids then you will have to make a decision.

What would that be? Gunner, you have always loved her but you made the decision to stay away from her. Then that one night you two spent together gave you two beautiful children. If she is Lana I don't know why her mind has chosen to forget her past. All the pain she felt waiting for you to come home and marry her as you promised. As a woman, if my man did that to me I would want to forget all the pain I felt too. But if you still refuse to claim her then leave her alone. Let her continue to live her life as if she never met you before. Let her be pain free.
