I walked into the house to see them at the table playing cards. I grabbed a beer and asked Johnny why they are here every night? Then I asked, what the hell are you doing her every night and not at your clubhouse with all your whores?
I turned and walked out of the room and up the stairs to my bedroom. I slammed my door shut and locked it. I threw my backpack on the bed and walked to the bathroom. After I showered I put on sweatpants and a tee-shirt that belonged to my cousin Jerry.
I walked over to my desk and turned on my laptop and started working on my book. I drank my beer and then lit a joint. After smoking it I continued working until 9:00pm. I then unlocked my door and walked down the stairs. I threw my bottle in the trash.
I grabbed two more and walked back to my room. I sure as hell was not going to sit down there with those jerks. I want nothing to do with them. I locked my door again and sat back down at my desk. I worked until midnight before turning my laptop off and laying in bed to watch TV.
I fell asleep with it on. I woke up around 11:00 am. I dressed and walked down the stair. I ate breakfast before walking out and getting into my car. I backed out and drove down the road threw town and hit 36. I drove to Celina, Ohio to meet my friends at the barn.
We got on the horses and road toward the woods for our two hour ride. When we got back to the barn we handed the horses to the stable boys. We decided to meet it the Olive Garden to eat lunch. Kevin, Lisa, Olive, and Tommy are coming to the house later on around 8:00.
We are going to have a cookout and fire in the backyard. On the way home I bought firewood to make sure we had enough. I parked in the garage and laid the wood next to the wall. I entered the house to find a note on the table.
It the clubhouse. Be home later tonight. Call if you need anything. I made coffee, and took out the stakes, burgers and hotdogs and put them in the sink before carrying my coffee to the living room.
I must have fallen asleep on the couch. I heard the front door open and then, if it isn't sleeping beauty. Johnny told who ever it was to shut the hell up. Who is she? My sister. I heard them walk out of the room.
I woke up hearing voices in the kitchen. I sat up and slipped my sandals on. I heard a knock on the door. Come in you guys. We walked to the kitchen and grabbed the meat walked out back and started the grill putting the food on.
We took the chips, and condiments, and buns out and put them on the table. Then we grabbed the cooler full of beers and carried it outside and put it near the table. We sat down and ate. We talked about the race coming up tomorrow.
You have less of a chance of running into them again. And never, ever date a man thinking they will love you. Love is not real. Lust is the only thing you can depend on in life.
Olive and the gang decided to leave an hour later. I walked them to their cars. Don't listen to that bastard, Tommy told me. You are beautiful and any man would be lucky to have you. Don't worry Tommy. He was one of the men I learned to hate and not trust.
I watched as they drove down the street. I walked back to the back yard and started to fold the chairs and lean them against the porch. I turned and walked into the house and up to my bedroom. I shut and locked the doors. I turned the light off in my bedroom.
I sat near the window as it faced the backyard. I heard Wolf say, some man sure hurt her. More than you know my brother said. She hates your guts James. I know. She has since she was 15 years old. I did that to her. I was a cocky 20 year old at the time. Said some things to her I should not have said.
And yes before you ask. I did say that to her. I was a jerk. She had a crush on me at the time. I destroyed that. I thought of her as a little sister. I should never have said those things to her.
